Watch out, Tempe: there’s a creep on the loose. Someone has been storming into churches that have rainbow flags hanging, and yelling at people about queers.
The latest incident occurred at the Community Christian Church. The guy made a bunch of nasty comments, and then said he’d pay protestors to harass churchgoers and spread rumors about pedophilia.
“He said that if Hillary would have won he would have driven right on by the church without stopping,” said a church official, “but because Trump won he felt he had permission to say and act the way he wanted to expressing the hate that he had for this particular group of people.”
Then eventually the man just left and drove off, never to be seen again (hopefully).
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
This is super bizarre behavior — obviously — and so insane it’s hard to believe that it’s true. But there are a lot of nuts running around in the world, and apparently this is how one of them has decided he wants to spend his time.
The church posted details about what happened to its social media, and there’s been a generally supportive response. So that’s nice. The church is leaving its rainbow banner flying, and police have shrugged and said that what the man did isn’t a crime– yet. A second visit might result in trespassing charges.

ISIS say they are driven by Allah to kill… so if ISIS does not represent Islam, why are you mentioning this guy as if Trump blesses or condones this kind of behavior? I mean, if the actions of ISIS, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Al Shabaab, Gerakan Mujahidin, and the the dozens upon dozens of Islamic terrorist groups don’t follow Islam, why should anyone give a flying fuck about on guy that says Agent Orange compelled him to say mean things and said what he would do, but didn’t do. But, you keep trying to make it seem as though Christianity today is on the same plateau and Islam today. If my atheist ass can see through this regressive crap, it’s only a matter of time before more catch on and call out your dangerous rhetoric.

@Xzamilloh: You jumped the causal chain there. You say not all Muslims, and this article did’t even refer to the religion of the Trump supporter. ALL religions contain a radical fundamentalist wing. I’m not even sure how you got to ISIS from this article.
Anyhow, Benji, this one you got absolutely correct, and so did everyone in Tempe.
Xzamilloh
Three long ass comments and I bet this non-comment will post. Free of an agenda, huh?
Xzamilloh
@Dave in Northridge: The comment is in reference to other articles, so don’t worry about your own causal chain… mine is intact.
DMRX
@Dave in Northridge: Looks like @Xzamilloh forgot his/her meds today.

@Xzamilloh: so what are you suggesting they should do here? Not report on the story at all because the guy mentioned Trump’s name? Or are you suggesting that they omit that aspect of the story? Even though that’s what happened? They were quoting a church official who was giving their account of what the guy was saying. There are some people who for whatever reason, see Trump’s win as a sign that it is now acceptable to behave in this manner. Queerty shouldn’t report on that? Asked for your feelings on how they are trying to paint Christianity, that’s more than I know because I haven’t seen those particular articles, but I don’t really see this article as an example of that. The church that the guy was harassing was a Christian church. The “Community Christian Church”. The article points out that the guy is targeting Christians. It’s not blaming his behavior on Christians.

@DarkZephyr: as for* your feelings

The voices in his head told him Trump said it’s OK to do what he’s doing just like the they told him to vote for Trump in the first place. Crazy is always looking for an outlet and they have found it in Trump.

@Xzamilloh:
Right on, right on, right on.
You’re only, like, the fifth person on this site who acknowledges the hypocrisy of gays embracing Islam, as if Islam has never had anything but good things to say about us.
DarkZephyr
@Mo Bro: but this article has nothing to do with Islam. Literally at all.

Different story… written by the same author, but the focus was an Islamic group that target gay people. Soooooo, if he can bring up Trump and Christianity where they had nothing to do with THAT story, why the hell can’t I bring up Islam here?
@DMRX: No meds… just someone who reads and absorbs information and can bring it up when necessary. It’s called having a brain. Use yours or check the return policy and get a new one.
DarkZephyr
@Xzamilloh: I wasn’t presuming to tell you what you can and can’t say or bring up. I believe in free speech. I was attempting to find out exactly how you felt they should have handled the above story since you seemed to have a problem with the fact that they reported on things that actually happened and were actually said. None of which was related to Islam as far as I can tell. But if you want to bring up Islam, I won’t try to stop you nor would I have the authority to do so. You are a free citizen after all and I’m not in charge of Queerty’s comment section.
Xzamilloh
@DarkZephyr: I’m sorry, DZ. I shouldn’t have responded to you in that manner. I just grow tired of seeing sites I have liked fall victim to such regressive tactics of using integrity only when it fits their narrative.
