The choice is not between the Court and the State, but instead whether the individual can decide who to marry, or whether the government will decide for him.”
—Marriage Equality Legal Eagle Mary Bonauto in closing her arguments before the Supreme Court this morning when asked “who decides” whether same sex marriage will be lawful: the courts or the states?

where are those punk libertarians who say government shouldn’t be involved in marriage? Not posting under this article.

BRAVO. Mary!

The christian Taliban members on the Court have no issue with the govt. legislating who and who cannot marry. She might has well have been speaking Japanese as far as they are concerned.

Unfortunately, however, the contradictory claims – in nasty tones from many LGBTQ – during the recent religious liberty legal uproars (in Indiana, Arkansas, etc) about who has autonomy in their beliefs may have spooked Mr Justice Kennedy. The Justices and their advisors and influencers hear many LGBTQ speakers make claims that they – LGBTQ- have autonomy in their beliefs about who to contract with to bake their cake, etc but that private businesses owned by religious believers do not have any autonomy what-so-ever in their beliefs about how to use their professional talents.

Religion Nuts and Nutty Republicans have no problem with the Government telling you who you can marry, what you can do in bed, what you can know, where you can go, or anything else. Look at the Police State Cheney created, and you know it’s true.

@edwardnvirginia: More nonsense. Private businesses are not completely private. If they serve the public and discriminate against certain groups, they could be violating certain laws. You are an awful troll. Not even a good one. A cake is a cake. There is nothing more than that. By selling a cake to someone doesn’t violate their religious views.
I wonder if those so called “christian” bakers ever sold cakes to atheist couples. Why would they do that? Wouldn’t it violate their religious beliefs? Get a reality check please. Discrimination is not legal nor right.

@edwardnvirginia: BY the way, those so called “uproars” (non-existent uproars) have nothing to do with religious liberty. They have to do with discrimination. Nothing more.
