The votes for the Sexiest Asian Man of 2017 are in, and it looks like 37-year-old Indian actor Shahid Kapoor has succeeded in bumping the former One Direction singer out of the top spot.
Zayn held the title for two years, but now he’s number three beneath Hrithik Roshan.
“I would like to thank everyone who voted for me,” says Kapoor. “I am humbled by the desirable tag.”

Among Asian Americans I’d put Sendhil Ramamurthy, Sachin Bhatt, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Karl Yune, David Lim, and Harry Shum Jr. ahead of him.

I see the word Asian and I think Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean etc. but if they are referring to the whole continent then Turks and other Middle Eastern men should be included as well. They are generally much hotter.

“Sexiest Asian Man” contest? Who is holding this? Sounds pretty odd. is there a “Sexiest White man” contest? Or a “sexiest black man”? And who qualifies; is there some 1/8th “grandfather” clause or is it the “one drop” concept? First, the contest is held by a British magazine called “Eastern Eye” that focuses on Asian related subjects and issues. That’s why it’s an Asian man based contest – as opposed to an Any Man contest.
Just like how a Motorcycle Enthusiast magazine wouldn’t have boats in their ‘best of’ list. Sure, boats are a mode of transportation but it’s not specifically something they cover.
Second, it’s safe to think of America’s People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” as one probable “Sexiest White Man” because in its 32 year run somehow a white man was the winner 30 of those times.
It’s kind of like how even though there’s not something specifically called “White History Month” in the U.S., we all know the vast majority of the months are actually white history month.

Had this conversation the other day. I guess we have to refer to Asian as southeast Asian so everyone things of Vietnam, China, Korean, etc. People. Russia is on the Asian continent too. And I can see it from my house.

Well he’s definitely a sexy man without a doubt. But the title seems a stretch. “Asian” that is. He’s Indian and Russian and sure both are in Asia but… it doesn’t seem Asian in the true sense. It seems rather (no offense) Caucasian to be frank.
