This year’s WrestleMania was gayer than ever

Each spring, the WWE hosts its annual homoerotic pro wrestling event WrestleMania. Millions of Americans tune in to watch sweaty musclebound men wearing spandex roll around on the floor together, wrapping their legs around one another, and climbing on top of each other.

This year’s WrestleMania was held in New Orleans and was much gayer than usual. Not only did the the WWE debut its first openly lesbian wrestler, Sonya Deville, who competed wearing a two-piece tie-dye rainbow getup and revealed on the WWE reality competition Tough Enough that she’s not married, “but I have a girlfriend.”

But Irish WWE star Finn Bálor made LGBTQ inclusion his message during his Wrestlemania debut. The 36-year-old stormed the Mercedes-Benz SuperDome stadium donning rainbow-stamped short shorts and surrounded by adoring LGBTQ fans:

He also announced he was selling rainbow t-shirts, with a portion of proceeds going to GLAAD:
