The rotten, worm-eaten apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, the expression goes and it’s particularly true of GOP Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz and his charming pops Rafael, a pastor. Senor Cruz was asked at the antigay World Congress of Families 2015 in Salt Lake City this week whether there’s a link between LGBTQ people and pedophilia. He responded that it’s just a matter of time before the LGBTQ communities will try to normalize the psychiatric disorder.
“I think that’s the next thing that they’re going to push, to try to legalize pedophiles,” Cruz offered. “Pedophilia, you have all these laws to forget about – we have laws on the books about statutory rape. You have to basically throw away the statutory rape laws to legalize pedophilia.”

They should not be commenting on stuff they know nothing about.
First of all, they apparently don’t recognize the difference between “pedophilia” and “child molestation.” Pedophilia is still listed as a psychiatric disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. In other words, pedophiles are SICK, and it not illegal to be sick.
What IS illegal is acting on their inclinations, and child molestation IS illegal. People confuse the issue by using the terms interchangeably. No pedophile should be presumed to be a molester.
The issue also gets confused when they lump everyone who is interested in young bodies into the category of pedophiles, but a pedophile only likes prepubescent kids. The terms for people who like post-pubescent kids are hebophile (13 or 14 years of age) or ephebophile (older teens). So, when someone is caught with a 17-year-old he gets labeled as a pedophile and people think he’s been raping children.
The laws that protect children are not likely to change, and NOBODY except maybe a few NAMBLA members is advocating that the laws be changed.
