“True Blood” star comes out on Instagram

Actress Rutina Wesley has taken to Instagram to share the news that she’s found the “sunshine of [her] life” in New Orleans’ Chef Shonda.

The 38-year-old played Tara, the best friend of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), on True Blood for seven seasons. Towards the end of the series, Tara became a vampire and took up a romance with another female vampire, played by Kristin Bauer van Straten.

Wesley also plays a queer role on the OWN series Queen Sugar — a journalist and activist named Nova Bordelon.

It turns out Wesley has more in common with these characters than we knew, although to the best of our knowledge she is most certainly not a vampire.
