We’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of The Hobbit this December. And so, apparently, is Air New Zealand—the airline incorporated some Middle Earth folks (and a few Kiwi celebrities) to star in their new flight-safety video called “An Unexpected Briefing.” If other airlines produced similarly humorous and enchanted safety clips, we might actually pay attention.
One thing, though: Where’s Stephen Colbert?

What a great video! I’ve always wondered where the life vest was. I’ve never seen a safety video that actually showed where to find it. Usually they just say “under your seat”. Like I’d flail around searching in the middle of an emergency.
