They know that I completely love and accept them, as I do all people. I’ve struggled enough in my life to be appreciated and understood. I’ve had to go against all kinds of people through the years just to be myself. I think everybody should be allowed to be who they are, and to love who they love. I don’t think we should be judgmental. Lord, I’ve got enough problems of my own to pass judgment on somebody else.”
— Dolly Parton speaking to Billboard and explaining (for what must be the hundredth time) why she has such an enormous LGBT following

Only love for her. I am such a huge fan.

I don’t think it’s her struggles that we relate to; I thinks it’s her willingness to step outside of the box and be who she wanted to be, not who Nashville wanted her to be. She’s outrageous AND talented and we respect that. It’s the same for most gay icons, from Judy Garland and Bette Davis to Madonna and Cher. Yea, Dolly!

Decades and decades ago I lived in Little Rock working on a production crew in a LR TV station.
Once a month Porter Wagoner would show up to record several shows he was syndicating.
Off to the side in the dark stood a very shy very young woman with blonde hair and huge tits.
Dolly in her infancy.
Always polite but rarely said a word or moved around.
Who knew????????
I treasure those days.

Dolly is a beautiful person inside and out and I love the fact she doesnt take herself too seriously.

I think it’s her openness and refusal to judge that appeals to gay men. That and the fact that she is one of the most talented women to emerge in the last half century. Never underestimate the power of true talent.

She’s a wonderful gal.
A lot of gay men have never been happy with their hair or the size of their chest.

For me, it’s her songwriting skills, her lyrics, her “polite” way to write FU songs…and her HUGE knockers…
