15 Awesome Magazine Covers That Changed The Way Americans Think About Equality

In the spirit of LGBT History Month, your dedicated editors sifted through a huge pile of glossy dead trees to find breakthrough magazine covers. (Not really–we Googled.)

Some obvious images came to mind, Barack Obama in Newsweek, Ellen DeGeneres’s TIME cover in 1997, Laverne Cox looking fabulous after her star-turn on Orange is the New Black. Going back even further we were reminded of great covers like Leonard Matlovich on the cover of TIME Magazine back in 1975.
