We have two eagerly awaited titles and one, well, not so much, in the home entertainment line-up this week!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 wraps up the blockbuster series, while much loved cult TV series and de facto talent incubator Freaks & Geeks makes its extras-rich Blu-ray debut. Finally, Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy get retro in the latest take on a horror classic, Victor Frankenstein.

Now for trailers and details!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

($39.99 Blu-ray, $29.95 DVD; Lionsgate)

At long last, the three-book, four-film Hunger Games series comes to a conclusion with a showdown in the Capital of Panem. Picking up from the first part of Mockingjay, Katniss must help un-brainwash Peeta, decide between him and tortured romantic partner Gale, collaborate with a strangely reluctant Julianne Moore, and raise the spirits of the remaining districts’ residents to take down diabolical President Coriolanus Snow. There are a couple of twists in store and really depressing Trump-ish dystopia visions, but it’s a satisfying enough conclusion — and nice to see Philip Seymour Hoffman again. Extras include a generous collection of making-of featurettes.

Victor Frankenstein

($39.99 Blu-ray, $29.98 DVD; 20th Century Fox)

Who hasn’t wondered what the story of Frankenstein would be like if told from the perspective of hunchback assistant Igor? Oh. Right. Well, someone thought it would be awesomesauce to cast Daniel Radcliffe as Igor and James McAvoy as the fledgling mad scientist in a Guy Ritchie-esque big budget take (not the actors’ agents in retrospect, though). Nuff’ said! Extras include deleted scenes and making of featurettes.

Freaks And Geeks: The Complete Series

($119.00 Blu-ray: Shout Factory)

Tragically cut short after just a single 18-episode season, TV’s legendary Freaks And Geeks proved a showcase for some of today’s best-known comedic talents – from creators Judd Apatow (Trainwreck) and Paul Feig (director of 2016’s Ghostbusters and Bridesmaids) to actors James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, and oodles more. Openly gay writer/actor Mike White’s “Kim Kelly Is My Friend” is an absolute must-watch episode, and James Franco shines in the series’ closer, while the show captures awkward high school years and namesake cliques in absolutely fabulous, funny, and humane fashion. The extras, exported from a special edition DVD some years ago, are massive and include featurettes, deleted scenes, table reads, improv, a script for a never-shot episode, plus an all new booklet from Feig and Apatow. Essential!
