“Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick and New York governor David Paterson have more than a few things in common. Of course, there’s the obvious: Both men are handsome, charismatic, and in their 50s. Both are the first black governors of their states–and only the second and third nationwide since Reconstruction. But less obvious — at least to the average voter — is their similar dedication to pro-gay politics.” [The Advocate]

Real Progress for gay rights facilitated by STRAIGHT BLACK politicians!!
Priceless,
for so many reasons… Let’s hope the “Christians” in the Black community are getting their education, and being inspired by their leaders… So often I (we) have been critical of the Black community’s response to gay rights (especially about homophobia, HIV and the effect in the Black community), well, here is a wonderful example of true leadership!

Patterson is a good guy, decent human being, likable and funny. I love him.

I’d love it if Deval ran for President next time around (which will be 2016 hopefully).
Then have Bill Richardson, Hillary Clinton, Kathleen Sebelius, Deval Patrick, Claire McCaskill and maybe Barney Frank to be the “Mike Gravel no chance of winning but makes the debates fun” type character.
No straight whites guys allowed. They’ve had their shot.

I don’t think their blackness had anything to do with their attitudes about gay marriage. Am I being racist – or is the Advocate?
