I miss him as a human being and I miss working with him. What an unfortunate thing it is that we won’t be able to see the beauty of his expression… He was incredibly special and that doesn’t even come close to encapsulating who he is, who he was… I’m trying to have relationships that are as real as they possibly can be on a movie set, be close to people because I know that it’s precious. And I know, not only can this career end in a very short period of time and this or that can happen, but that life is precious. I think losing Heath and being a part of a family that was something like the movie, the movie we all made together, makes you see that, makes you appreciate that and hopefully moves you away from the things that really don’t matter to the things that do.”
— Southpaw star Jake Gyllenhaal speaking with Terry Gross from NPR about the friendship with the late Heath Ledger that was formed while the two costarred in Brokeback Mountain

Heath took too many sleeping pills. It was an unfortunate accident.

Very special and heart breaking movie.

Nicely put by Jake…very heartfelt.

@Billy Budd: No he did not. He combined a benzo like X@n@x with an 0piate like 0xycodone and died from this as a lot of people have.

..what an exceptional sensitive and clever man Jake Gyllenhall is….although he’s an actor and a good one plus takes his craft very seriously he could prove to be sexually active with a man or woman.

Ten years later, Brokeback Mountain can still make me cry (at least a bit). Superb movie; great actors – overall, classic.
