Whatever you want to call them, recently drafted NFL player Michael Sam and his boyfriend Vito Cammisano are pretty adorbs.
After Sam made NFL history by becoming the first openly gay player to be drafted, he shared a tender moment with an unidentified cutie on national television, leaving us to wonder who his lucky guy is.

Well now we know a bit more about Cammisano. The former University of Missouri (same school Sam went to) swimmer publicly came out in 2011, though it seems the two have kept their relationship largely under wraps until recently. 
On his Facebook account, Cammisano only likes one athlete: Tom Daley.

I was not surprised that Mike Sams has a boyfriend who was not well known in the media. I am interested to know how long they have been together. I hope the relationship can last all of the added stress of the NFL. Sams appears to be a nice guy, I bet his boyfriend is also.

Oh poor old @cam. There is a reason why there were other players picked ahead of him and he barely was drafted: undersized and slower than the average nfl player. And FYI, college accolades don’t lead to nfl success (just look at the recent track history of heirs man trophy winners).

So…this is interesting that just came out about Vito dating porn actor Austin Wilde. I don’t think I can post the link because it goes to a very NSFW site, but its up at str8upgayporn. Hmm….Vito has a right to date whoever he wants, but this is the kind of distraction that I hope isn’t turned into a big media issue about Vito having dated a porn star and therefore be something Sam doesn’t need as he tries to make the Rams roster. I do agree with one of the comments though in the article that Michael Sam better have had that boy tested for EVERYTHING!!! I would need to see all documents on those test results!! I know both need to be tested but when you have been with a porn star I would need to be a bit more rigorous.

I am really pissed at all these straight people who consider themselves in favor of gay rights and marriage equality that are upset that ESPN showed Michael kissing his boyfriend when he was drafted. Who did they think he was going to kiss? They always mention “what about the children?” The children don’t think anything about it because a kiss is just a kiss. It’s the parents who are “tolerant” of gay people because they consider themselves progressive but their toleration doesn’t go as far as kissing or sex. We really still have a long way to go before the GLBT community is truly considered equal or even better not considered at all.

Here’s another thing I thought about today. The fact that Michael has a white boyfriend makes his story more appealing to the media and their audience. Which means we will be seeing a lot of this couple. Think about it, do you think Kim Kardasian and Kanye would make news if she was identifiably BLACK? Hell no! Kim’s allure is not only her attractiveness, but her European characteristics. Fair or not, the media does not have an active interest in all Black “anything”.

Race remains important in American life, but it should not be the single unifying factor in organizing how *you* view the world.
