Shirley Huntley is being investigated by the attorney general for some $400,000 in taxpayer dollars that went to a few choice non-profits that she has some very personal ties to. Does Huntley’s name sound familiar? That’s because like Kruger and girlfriend face slashes Sen. Hiram Monserrate, Huntley is among the Democratic state lawmakers who stood in the way of same-sex marriage.

Hey, I’m a liberal and even I can see that black politicians don’t support gay issues, rights, marriage, etc. Neither do hispanics. Or Jesus-people. Or seniors. Come to think of it, a perfect world would be one with nothing but gays and those that support us. We’d all be young, smart and attractive.

Being black and gay is hard. Growing up that way, I know that, despite their democratic leanings, blacks-unless they are gay- don’t support gay rights because they are often woefully ignorant of anything to do with homosexuality, and it goes against what their book says, end of story. So it must be wrong. They are often no better than the Maggie Gallaghers of the world on this issue. They just aren’t as vocal, usually, because they will still be Democrats because Democrats support black issues.

Not all blacks behave as poorly as this. Even Obama says he is open to gay marriage. But then again, Obama said he was for transparency and open governmnent (before Obama imprisoned Manning and continued the torture of other whistleblowers. Even Obama supported closing Guantanimo until he later did not support closing Guantanimo. Even Obama supported stopping torture – unless it was the USA who did the torture or outsourced it to other countries. Even Obama is for having ultra-rich pay their fair share in taxes, until Obama signed their tax cut.
I guess what I am saying is that you can not trust Obama to do what he says he will do. Bigotry and lying are not limited to the white race. Let’s get over the concept that skin color means something. Once you take off the blinders, Obama looks much, MUCH more dangerous than Richard M. Nixon. Nixon did not target Americans for assisassination (without trial) nor torture Americans PRIOR to trial.
If you embrace Obama, you embrace the Republican Party of 2008. God help us to make Obama history and elect a REAL DEMOCRAT!

@Chitown Kev: The politicians are a different story. But as far as the PEOPLE, I know first hand(granted, I live in the deep south, so that is everyone down here) that the average black voter is very religious and against marriage equality. In fact, the last knock down drag out I had with my own parents was over this issue.

@BigFatLib: That is my picture in the recent activity facebook thing in the sidebar. đ I am a 30 year old black lesbian who was sent to conversion therapy in a fundy church camp at the age of 12 by my yes, Democratic, but equally anti gay black family. It isn’t a myth. It is a very sad truth. Also, I am, quite possibly, the only openly gay black woman in this shitty little town. I certainly have yet to find another.
Furthermore, despite their incredible ability to sugar coat their hate, the black community here has no love for me, I assure you. thankfully, I am, literally BANNED FROM THE CHURCH I GREW UP IN.
That’s a favor though. I am hardly religious. Quite the opposite, in fact.
