If pharma-bro Martin Shkreli could turn back time, if he could find a way, if he could reach the stars, he says he would go back and charge even more for the HIV drug Daraprim.
“I think I could have it raised it higher and made even more profit,” Shkreli said at a Forbes Healthcare Summit in New York yesterday morning.

Proving that money is the only thing that makes his world go round, the 32-year-old professional douchebag continued: “Our shareholders expect you should make as much money as possible–that’s the ugly truth. That’s part of what capitalist America is what is all about.”

Shkreli became Public Enemy #1 back in August when he raised the price of Daraprim, a drug used by some HIV patients, by more than 5,000 percent overnight, going from $13.50 to $750 per tablet. A major backlash ensued, and when the dust finally settled, Shkreli’s company reported a net loss of $14.6 million as a result of his greed.

Call us crazy, but losing almost $15 million doesn’t sound like “making as much money as possible” for shareholders.
Shkreli went on to say that his behavior was no different than the CEO of, say, Coca Cola. Drug companies, he added, should not be held to a different standard.
“I know society can’t put you in jail for violating your fiduciary responsibility,” he said.
As as for those of you who want to criticize him for being a greedy, unapologetic, entitled little bitch, he suggested you–yes, you–should try being a CEO of a multimillion dollar company.
“See how well you do,” he snarled.

The majority of our imports still come from China where they produce and sell those things to American “manufacturers” for pennies and those companies then sell those things to us for hundreds of dollars.

This is simple supply and demand. Any company will jack up their prices once they know the demand for their product is rising. Business isn’t about feelings or compassion. Business is about all money. I would’ve done the same thing. I wouldn’t have hiked it up quite that high though. 5000 percent is just greedy and seems more like a bad business decision. A 100 percent increase would’ve been far more reasonable. It’s probably better to slowly hike it up instead of all at once.
