Whether or not you believe the dirt Alexis Arquette has spread about Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, one thing seems pretty clear: the famous acting couple’s son Jaden seems to have a damn good head on his shoulders.
The fashion-forward 17-year-old blurs the gender lines with what he wears, and we’d put money on the idea that his attitude towards gender expression is not only a sign of the times, it’s helping lead the way.
Here are his latest Instagram shares:
The shots have inspired such brilliant comments as “He gay or wat,” “wtf,” and “I don’t understand the dude.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
But contrast those over some of the other comments — “Keep up the good work Jaden,” “Yes baby kill the gender roles,” and the succinct “LOVE,” and it becomes clear that the young celeb is clearly striking a cultural nerve.

“[Willow and I] both don’t really care,” Smith told the New York Times Magazine in November 2014. “I like to wear things that I make, but I throw it on as though I was throwing on anything. It looks cool, sometimes.”

Is he transitioning too?
Lestar
Well, I like what he’s doing. Pave the way Jaden. Women rock menswear all the time and no one bats an eye.
RIGay
@Sweetie Pie – Idunno? He actually appears more masculine than he did a few years back when he first rocked out in a skirt. The look is quite hot, however the oversize herring bone color print is an epic fail.
He looks like he climbed inside a pinata and got stuck.
Glücklich
Find something else to be “all about”, Queerty.
Xzamilio
Man, those women look hungry and miserable… so they look like great models.
joeyty
He’s a goodlooking guy. He shouldn’t be wearing clothes that make it look like he’s in a skit.
joeyty
@Xzamilio: If they were a band they look like they should be called The Misery Chicks.
joeyty
“The fashion-forward 17-year-old blurs the gender lines with what he wears, and we’d put money on the idea that his attitude towards gender expression is not only a sign of the times, it’s helping lead the way” So…is it Queerty’s Dan Tracer’s position that this is a good thing ? And the end result should be….a genderless society now ?
southernscot
You guys should come visit Scotland. Men in kilts is a big thing here and not just tartan ones for weddings. They are way sexy and quite the attention grabber as tradition is not to wear anything under them. Great way to get attention in a club. Hate the zigzag pattern one he is wearing, way to busy. Oh
There’s are cool though!
joeyty
@southernscot: Kilts are awesome (especially if the guy has muscley legs). But that’s not the case with this photo shoot.

I worked at a bar in Boulder, CO, where “Ladies Night” is illegal. So a clever manager instituted SKIRT NIGHT, and it was a massive hit. College guys “mansoreadubg” while going commando in a skirt: priceless.

This article featuring this drugged out kid shows poor taste.
David Myers
Balderdash! Guess your “taste” sucks!!!
Captain Obvious
It always amuses me when people think those other “models” are girls. They’re all boys, it’s rather obvious.
The movie thing didn’t work out so he had to find some other way to seek attention. It’s really pathetic that people go along with all these attention seekers rather than calling them out.
It’s one thing if it’s YOUR thing, it’s another to use it just for attention. I’ve known guys who wore women’s clothing in their everyday life, they didn’t make a huge thing out of it… certainly wasn’t newsworthy.
Kangol
He’s adorable and I support him wholeheartedly on whatever journey he’s traveling so long as he’s not harming himself.
I hope his presence as a young gender-free, queer person in the media helps create a space for other young people, especially young people of color.
robho3
I’m sorry skirt or no skirt him and his sister bug the shit out of me. A bunch of spoiled brat untitled kids that have no talent. Do us all a favor and get a real job at forever 21 and call it a day.
Xzamilio
There are some passive aggressive holier-than-thou asswipes in the comments section.
David Myers
Yup . . . . TROLLS . . . on purpose!
Chris
Think of how many men have been wearing ladies’ clothing on the down low for all these many years. All that Smith is doing is to bring it out into the open. It’s an important step for our cross-dressing brothers. And I, for one, applaud it. ….. On the other hand, he — as a model — just doesn’t do it for me.
Brian
Don’t mistake a man wearing a skirt for open-mindedness. Men who wear skirts can be extremely homophobic.
While it’s noteworthy, keep in mind that men wearing skirts will never take off in the mainstream. Women won’t accept it. Women are intent on ensuring that double standards prevail, and that is why they wear trousers just to rub in the fact that they’ve been cross-dressing for a hundred years.
Low Country Boy
Who cares what that undereducated, untalented twat does, and why is this news?

Neither he nor his little sister went to a regular school with other children. This kid is a suicide case waiting to happen. I don’t gave a damn how the gay/gender bending slant is played as a kid, whether loved or unloved by your classmates you belong is school with others your own age. That is how and where you learn to make friends, accept defeats and not turn into nothing else but a drugged out looking basket case wear dresses for attention (I can’t prove that last part but I bet I am close). Those little boys in that pick look more like throwaways than kids who are aware of their sexuality.
joeyty
And if, as Queerty is espousing, a gender-free society is the goal, should we still have Best Actress and Best Actor at the (dopey) Academy Awards ? It should just be Best Performance from now on.
Lestar
I’m pretty sure that if you feel like wearing a dress does not mean you want to be a woman.
Lestar
I’m pretty sure that if you feel like wearing a dress does not mean you want to be a woman. I don’t care if he’s doing it to get attention; we all know men wearing dresses are frowned upon. It’s time that this double standard starts getting the attention it deserves.
joeyty
@Captain Obvious: “It always amuses me when people think those other “models” are girls. They’re all boys, it’s rather obvious.” Oh no ! If that’s the case….now I’m seeing them as skinny trans crack whores.
Scribe38
Do you Jaden and screw the haters. Life is too short to care bout what others think.
Xzamilio
@joeyty: Except when you click on the video and each of their Instagram profiles, you see they are indeed all women. So it’s only obvious to someone who thinks they know everything. Not you, though…
Xzamilio
@joeyty: *picture
Not video. My mistake.
joeyty
@Xzamilio: ah…okay
truckproductions
wait you’re saying he has a good head on his shoulders cause he dresses in a gender fluid way? that’s absurd.. perhaps you’re forgetting all the half brained nonsense he’s been upchucking to the media the last few years..
joeyty
@truckproductions: If he was wearing a bra, too, Dan Tracer would want to elect him President.
dwes09
@Xzamilio: Ha! You are right. I was almost fooled by the muscularity of their legs, as models usually are softer and weaker looking than that.
jeff1370
What a bunch of douches!! He is rarely in the gossip magazines or on t.v. so, attention getting isn’t the driving factor. He wants to have a job (modeling) to feel like a part of society. He obviously, doesn’t need the money.
madlover
@kocaeli web tasar?m you’re telling the truth. these clothes are very interesting but personable child.
Merv
It’s not my cup of tea, but good for him for experimenting and trying out different things. That’s what’s exciting about being a young person.
Captain Obvious
@Xzamilio: Says the passive aggressive faggot himself who can’t stop talking about me in every post but isn’t directly replying because he knows I’m gonna go in on him.
Why are you so obsessed with my posts still? You don’t seem to know what holier than thou means.
tusk59
I’m not impressed by another rich kid trying to find a career for him or her self – he can’t act and I think that he’s an awful model so next I guess he’ll be reporting from red carpets with fashion criticism because of his extensive knowledge or maybe a game show host – something that requires little talent.
He stayed out of the press for a few years until most of us forget what a bad actor he is. His being a good kid does not make him talented nor original (we’ve seen skirts and kilts on models for a while now). I’m not sure that someone who knows nothing about the real world is a pioneer in this area. When I see him walking the streets of cities around the country without body guards, then I’ll give him all the credit in the world.
I just don’t get it – and yes, I get that he seems to be finding his way and experimenting. My issue is that we don’t call it what is – taking advantage and stepping ahead of many other people trying hard to find their way who don’t have connections, a name and plenty of money.
Bob LaBlah
@tusk59: I bet if a psychiatrist were giving an opinion of him and his antics I bet they would concluded this little boy has a mother that he hates. Girl (Jada) comes off as extremely cold. I could not see her breasting feeding him nor his little sister.
I won’t even go into that hopelessly lost father of his. His latest movie, accent and all, is enough to make one puke up the popcorn. And to think I thought it was a tie between I-Robot and I Am Legend for his worst attempts at acting.
Stached1
Are he and his dad going to come out as gay?
Xzamilio
@Captain Obvious: Oh, you finally @’ed me… good. For a minute, I was thinking you were hiding your balls as well as your face behind that Zack Morris profile. A gay man calling another gay man a faggot as an insult… it’d be a shame if I saw you as an actual person and not a glorified troll who still can’t figure out who’s a man and who’s a woman… but hey, being stupid and wrong is like breathing for you, so why stop now? Stay black, Zack Morris.
Lewgad
@truckproductions: Well, he does look like he’d like some gender fluid.

Jaden is a very cute, young dude; and attention grabbing, making millions, and enjoying the spotlight whilst still a teenager, are not (yet) illegal or unethical in the USA. I hope he becomes mega-richer, happier, and more famous as his career blossoms. More power to you Jaden.
