PHOTOS: Rocco Katastrophe Releases New Album With A Queer Bang In Brooklyn

Hip-hop artist Rocco Katastrophe and friends raised the roof and set it on fire (or whatever hip expression the cool kids are sayin’ nowadays) at Brooklyn’s Public Assembly recently. Rocco was celebrating the release of his fourth album, Second Hand Emotion, (which may or may not be an ode to Tina Turner). The Original Plumbing publisher/cover boy was accompanied onstage by Georgia and Viva of Jessica 6, a collective are known for helping Nomi Ruiz stage her Hercules and Love Affair live shows. Before his headlining performance, Rocco invited synth-pop maestro Skeleton Head, femme pop cabaret artist Nicky Click, San Francisco camp stars Double Duchess and DJ Average Jo to keep the the lively crowd pumped with funky electro-pop. In between sets, Brooklyn filmmaker Sarah Tricker premiered a short film that doubled as the music videos for Rocco’s songs, “Wake Me If I’m Dreaming” and “Let Me Go.” Second Hand Emotion will be released in stores on June 26 but can be purchased online now. I do miss living in Brooklyn.

  • What the f**k

Of all the acts you could have given coverage to …….some no hoper???No offence ROCCO….but if that’s what’s worth supporting in your office, then perhaps you should stick to the mika’s of this world …coz that’s gonna do more harm than good. AWFUL!

    Catastrophe is right.

File that under “Rebecca black is better than…”

  • Georgia

Hay! So I’m one of the dancers and the choreograph and viva and I are a part of Nomi Ruiz’s new band Jessica 6. It’s a new femme fatale staging of Jessica 6’s live show echoing vanity 6 and bringing some fly gurl realness. We did not work with Hercules and love affair however! Only nomi can claim that!
