Thousands of men boarded the ferry from Sayville to Fire Island after work on Friday and spent the weekend living it up for Ascension 2014, a weekend of dancing, laughter, and boat loads of gorgeous men.
DJ Grind set the scene at the Ascension Underwear Party Friday night (featuring a steamy Tagg-sponsored dark room). The boys slept in and played in the surf on Saturday during the day, then took disco naps before Ralphi Rosario lured them back to the dance floor for Saturday’s Ascension Tea Dance followed by a firework show and DJ Theresa’s set at Sip N’ Twirl.
A little rain scare Sunday morning didn’t send partygoers back to the mainland. By the time the sun came out DJ Paulo was in full swing and an expansive sea of half-naked men were celebrating on the beach.
Ascension is a project of The Fund in the Sun Foundation, established in 2006 as a not-for-profit charity dedicated to the Fire Island Pines. Proceeds from Ascension go to a number of organizations including The New York City Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Community Center, Friends in Deed, Camp Heartland, The National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, Live Out Loud, Friends of the Fires Island National Seashore, and The Trevor Project.
