To say this is hypocrisy doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of what these kinds of stories say about the religious right, our society’s view of sexual relations, status of women, homophobia, loaded words like “family” etc.
Almost everyone who posts here is already aware of that so I won’t make a long diatribe about it.
What I would like to see is a huge chart of all the similar lying/hypocritical ministers, leaders, politicians and others – in a huge timeline display. Anyone game to do one?

Is it my imagination or is Governor Mark Sanford of SC gay? My Gaydar just took a huge spike during this clip. And during yesterday’s press conference it spiked then as well. Then Rachel Maddow showed an excerpt from the sexy emails and the language seemed awfully, no overwhelmingly, gay to me.
Could this perhaps be the core story, the real scandal here? Is it that Gov. Sanford actually has a male lover on the down low in South America. Look at him, he does not look like a player, nor does he sound like one. I think perhaps his “Mo” tendencies got the better of him, you know post stress from the stimulus package trial, et al.

However, “silent” as in not much broadcast/print at the national level? How does one ever know what is chosen to be hyped and what is ignored? I recall the hoopla about Black churches being burned and in actuality the same number had been burned every year. Which is not to say this is not a huge issue but rather I’m focusing on how the mainstream media perceives and relays it to the public.

So in essence, straights per capita commit pedophilia at a far higher rate than gay perpetrators. So all children should be kept away from straights rather than the reverse. Well once rights of one group (CA Prop 8) start being rescinded others will follow. Traditional marriage believers are delusional that this is a “right”. The wrongs of discrimination run so deep in the US that it has become part of traditional thinking to “separate”, target and criminalize those who are different (race, gender, sexual orientation). If Love were valued, marriage would not be the issue, adultery, hate and discrimination would be the real battles to fight.

Straight widows and widowers with children would also have to be forced to marry of course for the sake of the “traditional” family. Many of these kids end up in predominantly straight foster care and even some of those straight foster parents have abused the kids they’re caring for. Dummybarb would ignore that of course because of the “straight” component. They’d rather have kids raised in abusive straight homes than in a loving home with two parents of the same gender who often provide them with a better start in life and a whole lot more. Surprising isn’t it that the children of same-sex couples almost always grow up to be well adjusted heterosexuals later in life. Another fact that can be documented.

I agree with Robert on the fact that laws should be created to disallow psychologically imbalanced people from having children to avoid abuse of whatever form.
In short all sexual deviants should not be allowed to father or even come in contact with kids. Is the only way to keep the innocent safe.
I have a woman of the “alternative marriage” that works at my company. She and her partner have two beautiful boys. One of the boys was pushed down a flight of stairs by his schoolmates and was further physically assaulted because he has two mommies. Of course,this caused an outrage in the community and broke the heart of his mommies. The boy refuses to go back to school. How heartbreaking
This is a live event people of the problems this gay marriage will cause. Just because laws are made to cater to your legal and financial woes does not mean that everyday people accept the idea of the corruption of marriage. And of course the more spiteful ones will teach their kids its ok to attack an innocent child becos his family is alternative.
This is the main issue of corrupting something..there will be consequences that are way more far reaching than whether the law protects ur so called rights.
