“Well, every season a lot of people are not happy, and then every season most people are very happy. So, you know, these are some thirsty-ass queens who like to complain, and that’s okay! If you want to watch a re-run of Matlock, be my guest!
But y’know, we have a winner. The truth is, they’re all winners James. If they’re on the show, they are a winner.”— RuPaul to James Corden when asked about the backlash to Shangela not making it to the final lip sync.

Trixie is not better than Shangie and you know it Rupaul; no disrespect to Trixie but she did not shine at all this allstar season, both Ben and shangie are way deserving.
We still don’t know why the other queens voted the way they did at the end.
DCguy
It is interesting that there was a reunion show for Allstars2 but not for 3. Almost as if they didn’t want to talk about it with the queens after it happened.

So the winner is picked by the queens? How could anything go wrong with that?
RichW-SF
RuPual should view the comments about the PROCESS of choosing the final two as feedback, not as complaints. Most of the “complaints” that I have read online were about having competitors choose the winners and losers, rather than the panel of judges. Take it as feedback from viewers of your shows, Ru.

Say what you will Ru…you blew it. Letting the other queens choose the final two? Maybe it sounded good in the production meeting, but as it turns out it was a boneheaded move…and no, you don’t get to Shonda that decision. What a lame interview.
Ummmm Yeah
This was no more unfair than putting Shangela in half the seasons, all star or not, trying to finally let her win one. In fact maybe that’s part of what the others didn’t like.

I am going to agree. The Queens had to know that there would be some twist to each season All-Stars or Standard and it is NOT like early years where Queens were judged more heavily on competition wins but now it focuses on fostering the best relationships with the other Queens, luck, and winning the Final(s) regardless of your past record. That is what Ru Paul means by: May the Best Woman Win is that is can be ANYONE although had Shangela been in F2 against any Queen and even had she done poorly in the lip sync she would have won since she is a favorite of Ru’s having been on Drag Race for a THIRD time which the other Queens might be bitter.

Shangela was gone first in season 2, and deservedly so. She was atrocious. Her season 2 was measured in hours, not days or weeks. If you really think that gave her a huge advantage over the other queens, as you seem to as you post that point over and over again, have at it. I don’t think very many other people think that.
graphicjack
Trixie’s been on three times as well, and all these queens were on at least their second run. You tried it.
Brian
This was Trixie’s second season. She was the returning queen in her original season, I think she stayed one extra episode instead of getting the chop as soon as she returned.
I think Shangela and Eureka O’Hara are the only 2 queens to do more than one regular season.

If Ru thinks “most people are very happy” about this All-Stars season, he’s completely delusional. If anything it’s been pretty shocking how universal the dislike of this season has been across all sorts of the sites that regularly follow Drag Race, even sites that often disagree on other things. Face it, Ru: nobody likes the queens eliminate each other gimmick. It doesn’t work, it makes everything feel obnoxiously random rather than suspenseful, and it just screws everything up. Do everybody a favor and get rid of it.

50% of the drag queens are self-absorbed messes. To expect them to make rational, coherent, non-self-obsessed decisions is a bit crazy. Kennedy should have been road kill long before the top 4, but had friends in the right places. So, yeah, Shangela should have been in the top 2. Thorgy, a real head job herself, got it right, oddly. Bendala should have won, but then there was that brain fart she queefed that knocked her out. The entire drag queens picking the losers is a bad idea if you want to get the right winner, but great for drama. Unfortunately for Ru, the entire concept may have run its course. I give it two more seasons. Thankfully, Ru is so cheap that she’s bankrolled a nice living already…assuming her ego can take it, which is in doubt.

RuPaul fails to see that there is a huge difference between fans being upset over their favourite not winning and deliberately screwing over the front runner with an unexpected twist.

Ru: OWN YOUR S%&T. This was a poorly handled season, and a disastrous finale. You (and your producers) wanted so many “twists,” regardless of how it affected the actual DRAG performances, and it resulted in an absolutely mediocre final lip sync. You know it, and the viewers know it.
Yes, it is a reality show, but some reality shows are better than others. The respected ones are those that never lose focus on the point of the competition–whether it’s cooking, singing, or drag. Sorry, but this time, in your own words, you “f&*$#d it up.”
Oh, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences called. They want their Emmy back.
