One of the most-talked films from Sundance Film Festival finally has its first trailer.
Eliza Hittman’s Beach Rats stars model-turned-actor Harris Dickinson, who reportedly gives an emotionally — and quite often physically — naked performance.

The Daily Beast has seen the film and hails it as “the rare gay drama, and maybe the next wave of queer storytelling, that makes you feel uncomfortable.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Hittman’s followup to It Felt Like Love is set in Coney Island and centers around Frankie, a teenager who compulsively cruises gay hookup sites.
This is not-so-subtly foreshadowed in the film’s first trailer, which finds the character languidly going through poses in the mirror, trying to snap that ever-elusive perfect selfie.

That’s the preview? Really? *sigh*

Is this from Corbin Fisher?

Terrible, awful, stupid, pointless preview. Not only is the flashes of stuff annoying, but it doesn’t say anything useful. After watching that, I have absolutely not a clue what the film is about. I am not in any way encouraged to go see it.

Just understand, it’s a teaser, right? not an actual trailer. The mystery and intrigue is the point. It seams like people confuse the two and get the wrong expectation. I’ll hold my judgement until the trailer is released.

Do you post these things just to have something to post? That was silly.

White guys. All I see is white guys. Beach rats. Name fits.
lambchopp59
Agreed, if the teaser is preview of the movie, I have no interest in seeing any more whiney-spoiled white-guy movies at all. The more I see of what gets Sundance festival honors, the more motivated I become to finish my novel and possibly shoot the movie myself.
IDoNotHaveToAgreeWithYou
Guess you’ll just have to go make an all black Hood Rat movie and stop worrying about what white people do.
galatians328
Well observed! White Supremacy lives on with the Queerty elite! I have filed discrimination complaints against Queerty with the SF Human Rights agency but they always say that they ‘don’t have time’ …. which translates to they don’t want to get uninvited to Queerty-Supremacist parties, or something like that. SF Human Rights agency appears to be a sham/scam/waste.
Jack Meoff
So where was outrage when Moonlight came out with an all black cast or doesn’t it work both ways?
Kangol
Typical, but also a bit stupid depiction of Coney Island, which is 51% White, 29% were Black, 18% Latinx, and 4% Asian American, 7.6% “some other race,” and 4% mixed race. A white enclave in New York City ain’t. Bay Ridge, yes. Bensonhurst, yes. Dyker Heights, yes. Borough Park, yes. Middle Village, yes. Belle Harbor, yes. Breezy Point, yes.
Coney Island, no. Oh, and by the way, the white people running around Coney Island aren’t most blond twinks, but yeah, I know, it’s a Hollywood fantasy.
@JackMeoff, ONE very good film with a mostly black cast hardly compares to countless ones, over decades, full of nothing but white gay people. And you do realize that there are millions of gay Latinxs, Asian Americans, etc. Or you don’t.
sydboy007
Are you kidding me. They’re fracking white male! They’re white men! (know your memes)
looks like the film will help the sjw community to continue on it’s ouroboros like consumption of itself. the lack of diversity is going to ensure many refuse to see the film.
Kangol
“SJW” reference, Breitbarf snowflake alert. Also, it’s=it is. Its=belongs to it.

Ug, tedious and boring. Another “gay” movie that assumes that gay stories aren’t worthy of existing unless there are hot guys depicting them, and preferably straight, or tormented closet cases at that. I feel like I’ve been seeing the same damn shit for 20 years at film festivals and, believe me, it’s always the same. I’m so sick of it.
Billy Budd
I love diversity and my boyfriend is black but I do not get angry with movies filled with cute white boys.

Would u like to have video sex chat ?
geo_john
Hey anyone wants to video sex chat ?
Billy Budd
No. Please no.

While waiting for these hot and poignant movies from Sundance ,
spend the weekend reading a hot and poignant novel….CALL ME BY YOUR NAME.
Yes it was a movie at Sundance as well.
Great read for anyone that still reads books.
I’ll probably read it again.

Did Abercrombie and Fitch make a music video?
That teaser makes me want to NOT see an actual trailer for the film and NOT see the film either.
