It must have been a little awkward for that woman in the first row of the annex room, where a live feed of the New Jersey Senate was broadcast, to be the only one jumping up and shouting “hallelujah” when the vote came down. But now we know this woman is Solid Rock Worship Center’s Pastor Aughtney Khan, and she apparently has enough free time to head down to the Senate building during a workday and literally cheer for discrimination.

I understand what it means to be married…
I am so sorry New Jersey…
My heart goes out to all those who feel less then those who hold love over our heads like its a special club for the bigoted and selfrighteous.

Well, this is depressing. I’m not sure why this would be the thing anyone would share with the public. Why put the face of defeat out there? What good does this do for anyone?
Bob
Hope she is happy that she can keep discriminating against a minority group. Has she forgotten what is tas like? If she is all about marriage between a man and woman, why isn’t she working in her community to se that the majority of babies are being born to unwed mothers?
rf
These are not defeats. These are empowering moments. It took 100 years after the civil war for Loving to hit the Supreme Court. We are not going to get a totally free ride just because all the other minorities fought so hard to pave the way. I, honestly, am quite proud to be a gay man in New Jersey after yesterday eventhough I still can’t marry my partner of 11 years in my home state. (yeah, our taxes suck) I now believe we’re going to do it and I think we have the opportunity to get more energized than we’ve ever been in a state where people, including the lbgt community, really only care about money and shopping.
JR
KEEP FIGHTING!!! THIS ISN’T OVER BY A LONG SHOT! THAT’S WHY THOSE PEOPLE ARE SO TERRIFIED!!! IT’S BECAUSE THEY KNOW IN THEIR HEARTS THAT THIS IS INEVITABLE AND THAT THEIR DAYS ARE NUMBERED!!!!!!
$0.02
What she and folks like her don’t understand is just like JR pointed out, this fight is FAR from over. We WILL get our RIGHTS as human beings. We will continue. When an oppressed group of people gets sick and tired of being sick and tired they fight for their rights. We are only doing the same. So to all you breeders soak it up now be we will NOT run, we will obtain our rights.
Bill
What Solid Rock Worship Center’s Pastor Aughtney Khan failed to consider is that, when all of this is said and done and LGTB citizens have equal marriage rights, this video clip of Pastor Aughtney Khan shouting praises to God in support for governmentally institutionalized Apartheid toward gay citizens will be shown over and over and over again, much in the same way that the clips from the Black civil rights era are shown over and over again. She will humiliate her family and her friends and her face will forever be a symbol for bigotry and LGTB Apartheid & segregation.
It is clear just by watching her outburst that she has neither the intelligence nor the compassion to grasp how history will most definitely view her vile actions.
At the end of the day, this woman is no different than a member of the KKK. She just doesn’t wear a hood. Yet. But mark my words, these gay haters WILL wear hoods one day, when it is no longer palatable and LEGAL to abuse LGTB citizens via the law. She will become just like those who would burn crosses on her lawn – afraid to identify herself publicly for her bigotry, instead cloaking her face so that her fellow citizens can not identify her and her hatred.
But surely her God already sees her heart and its contents.
Bill
Here is Pastor Aughtney Khan’s web site. With email form page. I have already sent mine.
Have at it, guys!

To the Maggie Gallagher cult and others, remember this line from your book of fairty tales.
Deuteronomy 22:22 “If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die.”
Bring it on, breeders!

Oh, we don’t pay any attention to those parts, Robert. We are only interested in Leviticus, which is the “real” truth, according to Gawd!
Robert, NYC
Schlukitz, Happy New Year to you and your partner!
The Deuteronomy quote is one we should start throwing at them everytime a public official is caught inflagrante delicto, remind them just how absurd these quotes are when they resort to Leviticus and holding up the sanctity of marriage bullshit. Tit for tat I say, every time! Be assured, they’ll come up with every excuse known to man to get around it.

Wake up and smell the failure people. Gay marriage is going to nowhere. This country does not support gay marriage. Stop watching polls and start listening to the people. It is time for a change in strategy.
People are homophobic because homosexuality is listed as a disgusting behaviour. You know like scratching your nose in public or scatological sexual habits. It is not seen as a way of life at all. People tolerate gays because they have to. It is bad press not to. No one wants to be called a bigot because they cannot stand the gays..c’est la vie.
People are never going to embrace this. Take it to the Supreme Court. Unless you want to wait another couple of decades.
Clark
“I will be here again…to see that New Jersey will stand as the definition between one man and one woman [sic]…”
This idiot can’t even string together a sentence. What a pathetic bunch of crap. Her outburst was so full of hate. The scary thing is, you can tell she thinks she’s doing God’s work.
Robert, NYC
Naghaneu #12, now how on earth is that going to happen with five REPUBLICAN catholic justices on the Supreme Court bench, do tell? They are on the bench for life unless they retire voluntarily or hopefully soon die. Do you really believe they would rule in our favor? Get real. If by some miracle they all retired and Obama had the guts to appoint progressives which he would not, the Supreme Court will not be the place to resolve the issue at all. There has to be a better balance on the bench to get anything done at the federal level, until that happens and unlikely, its going to be a long battle state by state. This country is regressing, fast, I don’t see that changing much until the current generation of haters die off, none too soon.
gladys
So easy for people to claim “bigotry” or call people “haters” just because they don’t believe in gay marriage. The simple fact is marriage already has a definition. I know plenty of gays who realize this, and don’t try and push this issue down the throat of a public that doesn’t want it. Your constant whining only hurts your cause.

Um…sending us to a straight blog site that list, among other bigoted, hateful and homophobic comments like this proves what?
Freaks of nature…you lost the butt battle in New Jersey…the fact 14 senators voted for it still tells me the country is run by a bunch of queer loving liberal retards.
We already know that we are hated by many.
What else is new?
Robert, NYC
Gladys you’re a fucking moron. 8 countries have redefined civil marriage as gender neutral, has nothing to do with religion. How would you like it if we and our straight progressive allies strive to put a referendum on state ballots to ban religious marriages altogether or prosecute religious cults for violating their tax exempt status when they meddle in the political process? How about if we also add a ban on straight divorce to take away your rights? In a true democracy, rights are expanded not taken away. Another, lets bring back anti-miscegenation, put it back on the books and see how you like that, including banning jews as well as black from intermarrying. For good measure, lets reverse civil rights for African Americans and get it over with. The problem with your kind is that you’re constantly shoving your lifestyle down our collective throats. Just because you may be in the mob rule majority, doesn’t make it right or moral either. Walk in our shoes bitch and then maybe you’ll learn a bit of humility. Fuck off, smelly cunt!

Go fuck yourself, No. 15 · gladys and find another site that will be more welcoming and supportive of your bigoted, hateful and anti-gay comments.
I know plenty of gays who realize this, and don’t try and push this issue down the throat of a public that doesn’t want it.
I know lots of gay wimps too. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why getting our civil-rights is so difficult, because of gays who suck-up to fag-haters like you.
Your constant whining only hurts your cause.
Actually, it is hateful, mean-spirited, homophobic comments like yours that hurt our cause.
Now, don’t you have something on the stove that requires your attention, a baby to birth, or some such thing to attend to?
Tim
When did having enough love for someone become a problem? Whether male and female or same sex? What right do we have to prevent marriage? What bothers me most is that we, as a nation, seem more concerned about homosexuals than war on terrorism or the recession. What about beeing concerned about all of our garbage in the oceans, unemployment, or poor parenting, young pregnencies and especially health care. Were too busy worrying what Brad and Angelina are doing that we wouldn’t even realize a gang initiation right around the corner! And what about how were the most obese country in the World? We have no care for ourselves or others and yet all we do is complain? I’ve spoke my mind. Whether anyone cares or not, my opinion matters to me. Were an immature society and our growth is only materialistic. Thank you for your time.

You beat me to the punch in telling smelly cunt, Gladys, to go fuck off. Great minds think alike. lol
You said Tit for tat I say, every time!
Now, that’s a pregnant idea. Tweak the tits of every homopohobe every time they say something mean about gays.
Who knows? They might just find that they like it.

Serious problems, yes. But all red herrings to the subject of this thread, nevertheless, which is about gay marriage, just in case you hadn’t noticed…so do try to stay on topic.

@Gladys Well I won’t go off into anger with you Like Robert and Schlukitz did, though I FULLY understand why they responded the way they did and support them in their outrage over the very bigoted, very ignorant statement you made. Just because you know a few spineless gays who would rather go with the flow and be treated like trash as opposed to being recognized as A FULL human being with rights does not mean they speak for or represent the rest of us. I just don’t believe you are even worthy of my anger on this. Before you go trying to tell us to give up on our RIGHTS, you need to do yourself a favor, go back and research the history of marriage, across the globe. It has been re-defined MANY times over the course of history. The definition of marriage as we know it today is less than 1000 years old and even in that span of time it has changed many times in many different parts of the globe. Oh yeah, if you all want to talk to us about protecting marriage why don’t we ban divorces and imprison folks who have children outside of marriage.

@No.15 Gladys, I would suspect you are much like the Gladys Cravitz from Bewitched, the busy-body neighbor who knows what she sees when Samantha does her tricks, but can never convince anyone without sounding like a neurotic naysayer. You only make us more determined, more resilent. You will always out number us, you will always out vote us, but you will NEVER make us cease. The faces you see above are sad indeed, but they are not the faces of apathy or complacency. You are not our enemy or our nemesis, we do not mean to conquer you over the definition of a word. Rather, we mean to be included and embraced, even if it takes us till the end of time. We have justice on our side, not just in the courts or legislatures, but in our hearts. Once you recognize our creativity, our intelligence, our contributions and our civility, that “whine” you think you hear will become a deafening roar and then together, as equals, will we build a better world and perhaps conquer hunger and poverty, prejudice and disease.
gladys
It will never happen. Ever. I know it, you know it. Frustration begets anger, I get it, therefore I don’t take offense to your name calling. Seems that’s all you’ve got though. I never resorted to that, as I harbor no hate towards any person or group. Your anger blinds you, so believe what you will. God bless.

Gladys is one of the one-third of “religious” people that will NEVER support equality. We need to ignore her and instead focus on the two-thirds of religious people that DO support equality.
Gladys is in the “minority” of religious people and we should marginalize her, while we wait for her to die (along with her ancient ideas/beliefs).
The current dysfunctional LGBT Movement does not have a plan to enroll people to stand with us for our full equality. Instead, we spend all our energy blaming (and in fact promoting) the wrong people. We need a new strategy and plan for our equality. We need to ask for help.
After 40 years of “politics” we should have learned our lesson – our equality depends on our ability to enroll our fellow citizens, NOT new or different politicians.
We will be equal when people believe we are. The data indicates that two-thirds of Americans believe in our equality, but we do nothing about it.
Let’s hope we have learned enough to let go of old ideas and seek new ideas – ideas to actually WIN. This year would be nice.

New Jersey going Republican is a retribution on President Obama as well as Democratic failures and not Marriage Equality. Taking it through the courts may prove more successful but the pain is so palpable despite religious zealotry and bipartisan opposition to Same-gender loving couples and their families civil rights.

Glass-ass (you can see right through it) said I harbor no hate towards any person or group.
Funny how they keep repeating this mantra, over and over and over, while they systematically and callously take away the rights of minority groups and belittle, degrade and denigrate us.
Is this what they have to tell themselves so that they can sleep at night?
Why would anyone like Glass-Ass, Mag-pie, Dobson, Letterman and their ilk go so far out of their way to hurt other people if they harbored no hate toward them?
It makes absolutely no sense, so the only logical conclusion a thinking person can come to, is that they are disingenuous liars.
And, their God does not approve of liars. They should give that a little thought.
Attmay
@28 Gladys Kravitz:
You claim to harbor no hate. And the Southern Traitors just loved all dem nigras so much they wanted to keep them all to themselves.
We cannot wait for these “people” to die, because they will just create more like them before they go. This should be the fate of “people” like that:

Number 15 go fuck yourself already you’re pathetic constantly trying to make claims that we throw crap in peoples faces and people like you always make those lame ass stupid assumptions. Im not jumping in anyones face saying look at me im gay look at me now damnit! You’re an idiot of the worst kind especially including your gay friends how the fuck do you know how they do or do not feel?Did you ever think that maybe they just say those things to satisfy your OWN bigotry? Why they are your friends is beyond me id rather be friends with someone that respected me as a human being and my human right to be married to the one I love.
“Your constant whining only hurts your cause”
Fighting for equal rights is not whining you idiot its fighting for what is right fair and equal in this country.

No Gladys it WILL happen. Whether you like it or not. People said the same thin gjust 40 years ago about mixed race marriages and we see what happened after that. You CANNOT and WILL not keep us from our rights as tax paying citizens. All you ignorant people do is make us bolder, stronger and more determined to work harder for our rights. And we will get them. What you don’t realize as schlukitz stated very well is that you lie when you say you don’t harbor hate towards us in trying to keep us from our rights and give up our rights IS hate, whether you will admit it to yourself or not. Now just sit back and watch us work! And by the way, whether you want to internalize the names you have been called, a few of them seem to describe you well given the comments you made about a group of people you clearly know nothing about. trying to take your so called moral high road is showing just how low you really are.

Great Comment. I was going to say pretty much the same thing.
