It’s no shocker that straight and gay people sometimes live together. Heck most of us lived with straight people at least until we were 18, right?
But Kasey, this cute and cool college kid from Tallahassee, Florida, is a little tired of people making “what tha?!?” faces when he tells them he lives with a gay couple, Will and R.J.
In this clip he explains what it’s like to live with two gay guys:
1. Girls are impressed with how amazing their home is.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
2. He doesn’t have to worry about his roommates hitting on his dates.
3. There are no wild drunken orgies (alas).
In the course of his post, though, Kasey does let slip that he works in a gay bar. Shirtless.
For the love of God, Queerty readers, if you live in the Tallahassee area and know where this boy slings drinks, please send us pictures.

I would be at that bar all the time. What a doll.

In which one stereotype (shirtless “straight” gay bartender) sets out to disprove another stereotype while a media outlet fulfills their stereotype. #smh

This is the first time I can say, I wish I got that job in Tallahassee.

He even has his own you-tube channel.
If you ever watched Will and R.J.’s channel you will find the link.
Suscribe,he is worth it!

Oh my god he is adorable…Oddly, as I’ve grown older I react to cute young gay guys as if they are puppies or kittens. I mean, I’d sleep with them if they were gay or interested in older chubby men, but its not even the point anymore. Not like when I was younger. Now, its like awwwwww aren’t you a cutie-wootie-little-thing…

Kasey. With a ‘k’?
Gay.

I like him, cute guy <3

Will’s channel is fantastic, you should all check it out. Daily vlogs of a gay couple living life to the fullest.

Hey guys, someone on the youtube channel for Shep689 said to check this out, so yeah I’m here haha.
I appreciate your sharing of the video, I just really got frustrated with everyone asking me how in the hell I put up with gay roommates, the drunken orgies, etc what have you.
When it comes down to it, I have an awesome home, with two of my best friends, in a wonderful part of town, going to an awesome school that I can actually concentrate on due to my stable home life. It’s as simple as that. I don’t have gay roommates. I have roommates that happen to be gay.
And to quench the speculation, yes, I am straight. I appreciate the compliments, but I just don’t have feelings for men. It’s not my choice, it’s just the way I am.
If anyone comes to Tallahassee, ask around. You will soon find where I work, there are only a limited number of locations, and I have made a ton of truly awesome friends working there that I otherwise would never have encountered.
Thank you guys again, and fantastic site,
-Kasey

Regarding his remarks about not seeing “poor, disheveled” gay guys on campus because they don’t spend their money on women. Of course you do see them, but you don’t know they’re gay. In addition, perhaps gay men don’t spend money on dating women, but lesbians do, both gays and lesbians earn less than straights, do not have as much disposable income (despite the myth), have the same or more expenses due to inequality, and make up a disproportionate percentage of the homeless population for those under the age of 25. Don’t even get me started on the statistics for the transgendered.
Gay and Transgender Youth Homelessness by the Numbers
http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2010/06/homelessness_numbers.html
Chris Rock was once ignorant enough to include a section in his stand up routine where he said, “You never see a gay homeless person.” I hope someone brought him up to speed. Unfortunately that was included in a comedy special that gets reshown all the time, perpetuating the myth.

@Mike: Statistics of earnings are bullshit. Lumping one group of people together and looking at earning reports simply does not give you a very fair evaluation. Sure, gay men on a whole earn less than straight men. However, gay men on a whole are also more willing to go into professions that have typically been dominated by women. Those professions have a history of not paying as well as professions that are typically dominated by men, but those professions offer more stable employment. There are more unemployed males than there are unemployed females at this moment.
Also, when you remove children from the equation your disposable income sky rockets. That is not to say that a straight couple with no children where both people are working do not see the same level of disposable income. However, it is more the norm that straight couples will be coerced into raising children even if they do not want to, and that leads them to needing to spend money on those children.
emma
They really do have a great place.

Kasey and his roommates are wonderful people. He is straight. His roommates are a
very loving gay couple. They have a friendship that will most likely last their lifetime.
I have a great amount of respect for these people. They are role models for today’s
kids. Hugs Kasey, I know this week will not be a good one.
Tomes
So the str8 guy uses us to make money at the bar,( somehow I don’t think he tells his customers he’s str8 while he’s flirting with them to bank more tips ,) and then uses us to live a fab life at home and we celebrate this?
anon
He makes his money by serving drinks, and, since i’m not blind, by being sterotypically attractive. Being gay or straight means shit all because he is not paid to be viable relationship material for the clients of the bar. The same is true for a gay guy working at a female targeted establishment or a lesbian working in a male catered strip club.
barry
@Tomes: Because the gay bartender is TOTALLY SINCERE when he’s flirting with you over that $20 in your hand.
Brian~
Biochem majors unite! 😀
Daez
@Tomes: Playing the victim? He does not use us. He gets paid good money to walk around shirtless and bar back. He probably gets tips for doing so as well. However, he is not using us. If anything, his customers that get off on him are using him.
He is also not using us for a place to live. He is living with friends that he could care less if they were gay or straight because they are friends.
How sad that you see everything as an exploitation of gays.
Jason
Kasey you’re a total sweet heart. I’ve been living with a friend I’ve known for 4 years now, knows I’m gay, and is cool with. Some (not all) straight guys aren’t really comfortable running around shirtless around gays unless as you said you don’t care or are comfortable (even then they can be faking being comfortable) with them self. Style-wise (probably a stereotype, but a legit one), your house looks great and gays (some, not all) are known for being very up to date on fashion, decor, and interior design. Props to you and for being cool with your attitude towards your friends and roommates
Kim
@barry: Yeah like the stripper gay or straight is really attracted to all the customers they are giving lap dances
Braid
This video isn’t as great as a lot of people seem to think it is. He’s getting as much attention as he does because he’s attractive, and people find him “cute” and “cool”. But in the video he constantly reaffirms his own masculinity and straightness, while doing nothing to break down stereotypes. He frames living with two gay guys as something beneficial to him, because now his own masculinity is unchallenged regarding women, and the “gays” keep a clean and fashionable house. And he is able to exploit his own sexuality at the gay bar… but it’s ok, because gay people are apparently all rich! If he truly doesn’t care about his living situation, he wouldn’t have made this video and constantly remind us of his straightness. We get it… he’s straight, and lives with two gay guys because it’s cool and he gets a lot out of it. The straight people I know who live with gay people don’t all make videos, but maybe they aren’t as cute and adorable as this one…
Jake
@ Braid how about checking just a tiny bit of information before ranting on like that. True, a lot of straight guys living with gay guys probably wouldn’t make a video about it – but you totally miss that the couple this guy is living with are a pretty famous youtube couple who is vlogging every day of 2012. That means Kasey is living in a apartment from where a lot of information floats around the internet. The cool thing about Kasey is apparently that he agrees to appear in some of the videos made by the couple, showing everyone who cares to watch them that these guys live together because they care for each other and have a lot of fun, being straight or gay is a minor detail here. And that is fucking epic, guys – IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU’RE GAY OR STARIGHT, got it?? That Kasey on top of this cares to participate in discussing these issues – like in the comment section here, and thanks for that, K – makes him into that kind of modern man that I expect our children and grandchildren to be.
Ernst
@Jake: “…a pretty famous youtube couple…”
Playing fast and loose with the word “famous”, aren’t we?
Anne Wilms
@Jake: This is so true what you say…3 great, intelligent young guys with great values who live together, appreciate and respect each other, working hard for their future, having fun,… I would be very proud if one of them was my child, really…
sharon
As a fan of shep689. one of the guys he lives with. If you watched their videos you will know that Kasey made this video because of a lot of people asking Will and his boyfriend RJ about Kasey. Making comments asking if hes gay, bi, straight. is he a boytoy for them. So Kasey decided to make a video to let everyone know that it doesnt matter to him. Thats why he says in dont live with gay couple. i live with two guys that happen to be gay. Hes just doing this video to answer all the questions and comments that the views kept asking. NOt to fluant his straightness. but to put the record straight. no pun intended.
sharon
Kasey came to live with them because he posted that he needed a place to live while going to school. And he went to school and was on swim team with RJ. So they answered him and offered the second room in the apt. Watch the daily videos at shep689 and you will see its just three guys sharing a place doing day to day living.
Ftt
Lol, just random posting now… Why the hell shoud I care if he is straight or not?! This article is just click bait. Forthermore this perpetuates the steriotype that every gay is a fashionable glee look alike. If this guy likes to get naked In front of a couple of guys, good for him, everyone has fantasies.
But he got one thing right, I don’t care….
MQ
He’s too cute to be straight Lol.Seriously,it’s refreshing to see a young straight guy that is comfortable with his sexuality and is not silly and homophobic.Good for him.
