Well, as one of those fanfic slash writers (though lesbian not straight), I can tell you that, from what I’ve seen and experienced, women (straight, bi, lesbian, queer) can and do come up with super-hot or incredibly sweet/romantic stories and art.
Why? Because everyone has fantasies and ideas and the internets offer a relatively “safe” medium in which to express said things. There are many female slashers (that is, women who like/love/are turned on by m/m pairings) who have no other outlet. Even now in the 21st Century (sad but true).
