Wentworth Miller Thinks Audiences Knew He Was Gay Even Before He Came Out Publicly

wentworthI feel more fully expressed. After Prison Break, I came to grips with the fact that my public persona was in misalignment with how I actually felt. I was out to a handful of people in my twenties, and once I hit 30, I was out to family and friends. But professionally, I was feeding a fantasy. I created this air of ‘We don’t address that thing.’… My face was on billboards, and I thought it was my job to act a certain way. But I think audiences knew to a certain degree.”

Actor-screenwriter Wentworth Miller, who came out publicly last summer when he refused to attend a film festival in antigay Russia, asked if being closeted was a burden in an interview with Details magazine

Not really, people who read the blogs suspected, but straight audiences have a LONG history of fooling themselves.

Remember, these audiences are the same ones who all thought Clay Aiken, Richard Simmons and Rosie O’Donnell just hadn’t met the right person yet.

  • Lefty

I think he’s right and he’s best placed to know what his fans and audience thought, of course. Good for him.

  • Tackle

@Cam: Richard Simmons!?! I almost spilled my coffee on that one. Even Stevie Wonder wouldn’t be fooled here. I don’t know of any straight person who thought Richard was anything but a big mo…

  • Cam

What?! Sweet Richard? He’s just a gentleman who hasn’t met the right woman to help him settle down. ;)

Ok, in HIS case, they most likely just didn’t think about it. lol

  • Milk

@Tackle: Please look at Liberace and his women fans. So many believe that he was straight.

  • lykeitiz

I really miss seeing that mug on a weekly basis.

  • MarionPaige

It appeared that the male cheerleader character Went played on the tv show Popular was intended to represent a “Gay” character at first. But then the show apparently decided to “not go there” and seemingly pulled back on the character. I think if you look at video of Went on Popular it would be hard to say (which a straight face) that that character wasn’t a gay character or to not at least suspect that Went himself was gay. Of course, there are probably still a lot of people who don’t suspect that Went is Black.

When he came out publicly, I thought to myself that he had already done that. Maybe I just had a crush and didn’t really realize it.

  • Tackle

@Milk: It’s just hard for me to believe that so many women can be that naive. I guess people are seeing what they want to see.

  • Lefty

@Tackle: Exactly. There’s a huge difference between people knowing but refusing to believe and people just being completely oblivious to the fact. Liberace’s fans must surely have been the former, but who can say? Only the stars themselves or the fans can really know.

  • jwrappaport

Most beautiful man on television. I would break him out of prison any day…

  • Dxley

What?! He’s black? I’ve never seen a black person with green eyes and a Grecian nose.

  • Tackle

@Dxley: Actually neither is that uncommon. Not sure where you’re from, but Black people are use to seeing both combinations.
And there is a long list: way before Wentworth. Here is a partial list of famous Blacks with green/blue/hazel or combo eyes, and some with so-called Grecian nose. But I’ll list the eyes, because many celebs, both Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, and others, have gotton their noses cosmetically altered.

    James Earl Jones: Green eyes
    Smoke Robinson:Green eyes
    Gary Dourdan:Green eyes
    Nicole Ari-Parker:Green eyes
    Lala Anthoney: Green eyes
    Jessie Williams: Green eyes
    T.J. Holmes: Green eyes
    Rihanna: Green/Hazel
    Tyra Banks:Green/Hazel
    Micheal Ealy:Blue eyes
    Stacey Dash:Blue/Green
    Venessa Williams: Blue eyes
    Denise Vasi: Blue eyes
    Leona Lewis:Blue/Green…
I’ll stop there. But I could easily add about 20 more. But as you see, they’re out there. And definately not unheard of. @MarionPaige: And speaking of people not suspecting Went of being Black, I’m I the only one who suspect that Richard Simmons is also. Well atleast, kinda?? That hair, and that nose. And the fact that he’s from New Orleans where so much racial mixture took place. And when DNA/genetic testing was done on hundreds of whites (not sure of the year) it found that that nearly all had measurable traces (recent) of African/Black ancestry.

  • Dxley

Well, I doubt any of those people you’ve mentioned are pure-bred. I’m not talking about dirty-blooded and dilute-blooded. I’m talking real people with both biological parents of the same race.

  • Tackle

@Dxley: I don’t think any of us in this day and age are of, as you put it, “pure-bred”. No one really knows who their relatives, five generations back were fucking, sucking and popping out babies by.We really have NO idea who along our family tree, took on a new identity by passing. Like if they wanted, Went or Mariah could do, and I suspect
Richard Simmons is doing. So we are all dirty and dilute (your words) blooded people. But it dosen’t make us any less real. And we definately have parents of the same race: (The human race) regardless of color/ethnicity/country. Because only race is human.
And since we have that out the way,
James, Smokey,Gary, Nicole, Jessie, T.J. Rihanna, Tyra, Micheal, and Venessa all have two Black parents.

  • Dxley

    Trust me, I’m sure that I’m pure-bred. It’s taboo
in my family to sleep outside of your own race
and I actually know my four great-grandparents
and they know theirs, and I know all there is to
know about my family tree and we ARE pure-
bred. I’m pretty sure my great-grandparents and
grandparents are more r-cist than anyone you’d
ever meet in your life. Not to mention that this
r_ce-mixing thing is quite new and still a shocker
to most people. There’s no dirty blood in my family and it will remain that way or the family will
kick you out and completely write you off. You’ll
start your own last name elsewhere and leave ours alone, and you’ll be dead to us and I absolutely LOVE it that way. I’m pretty sure a lot of people are still pure despite of all the nauseating r-ce-mixing that’s busy propagating.
Wentworth is clearly claiming one side of his d*rty-
blooded family more than the other!

I’m saying all this in the most respectful way, by
the way. I hope no offense is taken :)

  • Ihadtosayit

@Dxley: “There’s no dirty blood in my family and it will remain that way or the family will kick you out and completely write you off. You’ll start your own last name elsewhere and leave ours alone, and you’ll be dead to us and I absolutely LOVE it that way.”

The only thing that you are is a pure bred idiot that offers no proof what you stale words that rats are eating on…

WHAT A LOVELY FAMILY from what you stated above it sounds like something from the deep south in the 18th century… if it is TRUE..however I know that it is such bullshit that flies and maggots are swarming out of it…so please get your family together; take your pseudo elitist crap and put it in a cup and eat it but be sure to share it..

“Race mixing is NOT new.” from your words….people are so stupid and simplified that it saddens me but this is world I live in where someone proudly spouts something behind the velvet curtain of the internet while puffing up their chest…

You might want to read a science journal because you are NOT pure NON of US are:

  • tricky ricky

@Cam: also liberace (those blue haired little old ladies never gave up hope) and that nice richard chamberlain who just hasn’t met the right girl yet.

  • Dxley

You do know I’m not going to read whatever is on that link, right? My father has one sibling, my mother has one and I also have one. My dad’s sister’s daughter got pregnant by some Asian guy and she had two choices: terminate or get the fuck out. I’m pretty sure the result was predictable. So I’m telling you the truth about my LOVELY. I don’t actually give a fuck whether you believe it or not, but I felt the need to tell that one. I don’t have friends of any different race, and I actually don’t care about their family trees as long they appear to be the race I prefer. Again, these are my preferences. Have you ever seen a dog mounting a cow? LOL. Have a good life :)

  • Lefty

@Dxley: Have you ever seen a dog mounting a cow?

No but I have seen a black dog mounting a white dog. LOL.
Why is it the people who go on about ‘pure breed’ always look like the product of interbreeding and no stranger to sitting in a not-inconsiderable amount of their own fluids? LOL.
    One of life’s ironies, eh?

  • Ihadtosayit

@Dxley: well it is obvious that in order to keep you lineage pure your family has done some serious and routine inbreeding that has caused your mind to be completely undeveloped….that is why you can not read now I do not like to make fun of the mentally challenged so I shall leave you alone…

  • Tackle

@Dxley: Far from being offended, I find your post to be laughable. And not only laughable,( you gave me a good one this Sat morning) but ridiculous and just so-far out there, that you can not possibly believe what you wrote. I get the feeling that you’re a provocteur, and are afraid of the truth. That’s why you claim that you will not read the link @Ihadtosayit: put up. That’s a cowards way of not wanting the truth/don’t bother me with facts. I bet 90% of the times when people say they are not going to read a link, they do end up reading it.
And it was a fascinating link that I read, and I’m sure Many others read, and many more will read it. @Ihadtosayit: Thank’s for posting the links and good reads. @Lefty: And you are so right. And this black dog has mounted many, white, brown, red and yellow dogs. LOL…

  • Dxley

My mind is undeveloped and I [cannot] read, you say? That’s not what my Master’s Degree tells me :D

@Lefty: I don’t even want to give you any attention but I just did. Let’s leave it at that with you ;)

People, we all have preferences. I may be a gay man but I’m still going to marry a woman and have children by her, just to pass on the family name. A lot of marriages are loveless and mine would be just one of the many! Again: MY preference. It seems people don’t understand that anymore. You cannot change people. My family doesn’t want others races into it and that’s the way it’s going to be. Deal with it!

  • Tackle

@Dxley: What country are you from, and what is your ethnicity/race??

  • Ihadtosayit

@Dxley: all the while sucking men off at gloryholes to satisfy your urges…while bring home diseases to your lovely wife…oh what a vicious circle of life you have created for yourself here behind the velvet curtain of the internet

  • Dxley

    @Tackle: What do you think?

I don’t care what the cartoons say and I didn’t even watch that. I have formal education, make enough money (I’m 25) and I don’t do race-mixing. It’s my choice and my preference!

  • Ihadtosayit

@Dxley: oh come on they what you are…simple and true…admit it…you enjoy hiding behind the curtain or veil of the internet…you have crafted this little marginalized image of yourself all the while trying to enflame and circumvent what and who you really are…but the mirror is the one place you can not hide from yourself…

  • Dxley

I know who and what I am; I don’t need any more soul-searching, reflecting and rethinking. And just for your information, I don’t do one-night stands let alone gloryholes.

I have familial obligations which I’m very happy to fulfil! I will marry her and I will get a male lover, not a one-night stand. I ended it with my boyfriend of 3 years because he didn’t understand me; he couldn’t stomach the fact that I don’t want to marry a man and never will. I’ll be with a woman, after all, I have money and that’s what most of them want. All she has to do is bear me children and all will be well. Marriage doesn’t need love. I’ll carry out my father’s name, his knowledge and keep his bloodline clean and pure. It’s that simple!

  • Ihadtosayit

@Dxley:please honey you are on the internet therefore I choose not to believe you and your pseudo elitist talk…you are a fruad…if you were SO proud announce who you are to the world, but you are a scared little boy hiding behind your dad’s unshaven balls…did he promise you a fortune if you conform…did her beat you as a child or are you just a little man wishing these things in your head…

I am pleased that someone namely your “boyfriend” smelled the crazy on you and made it out alive (I seriously hope that he did and you do not have him tied up somewhere)

However never forget the following: you are as weak minded as your rant of racial purity…also make sure you make enough money to support your every increasing medication costs and frequent mental institution visits

  • Dxley

Believe whatever you want. I already have my own money and yes, I could do with my father’s money. No such thing as too much money and I don’t know which planet you’re from, but we don’t call a 25-year old man a little boy on earth.

You make me laugh, to be honest. He (the ex) didn’t smell anything on me, guy. I dumped him! I am going to be woman’s husband and my father already knows I’m gay, but finding out I’m marrying a woman will, with no doubt, make him the happiest man ever. He’ll die with a smile on his face. Like I said: believe what you want.

  • Ihadtosayit

@Dxley: more like you believe what you want and/or need to…so sad how mental illness has grabbed you…you know you can have a child with a woman of your choosing by insemination and marry a man…why live a lie? or does your selfish delusional world NOT care who it hurts…it is 2014 and not 1914….but then again this fact may be lost on you…well, I need to get here with my REAL husband (legally married with both of our families supporting us in the sunshine and not behind the dark guise of racial purity like your oppressive father) and do some errands and chores in the REAL world…

  • Cee

Awesome. I loved this dude on Law & Order SVU. Wish they would have kept him on as a regular character instead of one appearance.

  • Dxley

My father isn’t oppressive and he’s done his best to ensure my and my brother’s happiness, health and financial success, taking us to the best schools and I’ll forever be grateful to him for that.

I want to have the traditional family, being the only man in the house, making all the decisions etc. All the male lover has to do is keep me sexually satisfied and I’ll provide him with anything he wants, assuming he isn’t so financially empowered, even if he is, he’d just have to know his place and make a move when I give him the greenlight, other than that, he’s to stay hidden. Having both a man and a woman bow down to me; I love it! The woman’s job is simple: bear me children and stay married to me.

I know it’s a slightly selfish way with which to live, but it’s the greatest and best way I plan to lead my life. Dad will love the girl, I’ll get to pass on all he’s taught me, his last name, clean bloodline and my bank account will dramatically swell with his touch, so why the hell not?

  • stranded

Hopefully he has his head together and will come back to television or movies. Wentworth Miller has everyman quality that other gay actors like Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Russell Tovey, Ian McKellan, Neil Patrick Harris, Simon Woods and others i can’t think of right now.

  • DerekR

@Dxley: LMFAO Dixley you are even more pathetic and laughably gross than I thought. You really are a horrible person and God help your “wife”, children and anyone desperate enough to get naked with you.

  • Dxley

Derek, you’re even more pathetic for always following me around in these articles to read and critique anything I have to say. Do you ever see me doing that with you? No? Just because you cannot get laid doesn’t mean some of us cannot!

Thank God you’ll never have children because you obviously think one should get naked with them. I will have a wife, children and lead a normal, traditional lifestyle. It’s of my choosing. I wonder why gay men have to force a man out of the closet all the time even if he doesn’t want to come out. It’s as if they need someone with whom to struggle; well, it ain’t me. Marriage equality isn’t a big deal to me, that’s why I never comment on any post pertinent to such. It’ll always be legal for a man to marry a woman. Something I’ll be doing quite soon.

  • Cam

The funny thing is, it’s people like Dxley, who care about made up issues like “Racial Purity” that ALWAYS find out their parents or Grandparents were messing around and that their own DNA is more mixed up than Miss South Carolina trying to answer a question on World Capitals.

But thanks for demonstrating on here that you aren’t anything but a momma and daddy’s boy who can’t think for themselves and are too afraid to live their life. It really does explain a lot about your other postings.
