Don’t let the scarf and nose ring deceive you. Josh Mazolla is 100 percent heterosexual. But as part of a social experiment, he walked around a busy bus station asking other guys for their phone numbers. A hidden camera captured the interactions on film.
A few of the men looked back at Mazolla in befuddlement, but most of them were surprisingly cool with being mistaken for gay. A few even said they’d still like to “chill” with him “as friends”, even after he had just hit on them.
“After you talk with them and they knew what was up, they were still okay to, like, hang out,” Mazolla says afterwards. “That was cool.”

I’m gonna have to use that one. Anyway, I think this shows changing attitudes (but pretty sure this is a cosmopolitan place, as it looks like a train station or something). But also, it shows how much anyone — regardless of orientation — likes to feel sexy and flattered.

@Stache99: Same thought came to mind, however; what you are I perceive as “being very attractive” may be different for a heterosexual male. Given that, as a qualitative study, this same experiment can get some responses on this from the participants who did give their digits and/or followed through with this “social experiment! There are a number of “social” variables to consider that support findings.

Way back in the late 50’s, early 60’s I discovered the best way to pick up a straight guy for sex was to simply ask him if he was interested. Some said no, more than a few said OK (often after first saying no, then thinking about it), but no one ever got evil, not even the three on-leave sailors I once approached. It was NYC and I was 6’2″ and pretty butch looking, but I don’t think that had anything to do with it; I think straight guys feel threatened and get aggressive when they’re not sure what you’re after. Wish I had had the courage to start doing it earlier and more often.
