Anti-Gay Paisley To Be Honored For Bigot Ways

paisleyb-1.jpg
Northern Ireland politico Ian Paisley must be so proud of his Assembly member son, Ian Paisley Jr. The younger Paisley made headlines earlier this year when he’s “pretty repulsed” by gays.

Though the government didn’t find that he did violated the Assembly’s code of conduct, the UK’s Stonewall thinks his comments deserve a “Bigot of The Year” nomination.

Congratulations, Paisley! Sure, it’s not a LaBarbera Award, but you’re well on your way!

Not necessarily a big surprise that a Paisley is a bigot… Daddy Ian fought against equal rights for Catholics in Northern Ireland for decades…

But who knows, dad managed to change… Maybe his son can become less bigoted some day.

The Paisley’s are leaders of the DUP, a colonialist English party in occupied northern Ireland with deep roots in fascist politics. The DUP and their paramilitary thugs have historically worked with Brit military and security forces to suppress, and often kill, Irish patriots and civilians. The Irish Republican Army became a self defense force to protect the Irish.

Now the DUP has the GLBT communities in their gunsights and there’s been an increase in harassment and violence. The largest nationalist party in Ireland, Sinn Fein (Irish for We Ourselves) and their newspaper An Phoblacht (The Republic) are the only major political voices that unambiguously defend us. Google them to keep up on events.

Nice to see ‘the other Ireland’ making it up here…. even if it’s only because politicians are giving it a bad name again.
