"John McCain's presidential campaign filed a federal suit Monday against Virginia seeking to extend by 10 days the deadline for the state's acceptance of military members' federal absentee ballots.
Word of the suit emerged Monday afternoon, around the time that a separate election-related injunction request to extend voting hours in today's election was being rejected in federal court… [The McCain suit] seeks an injunction to extend the date by which federal write-in absentee ballots must be received to be counted. The current deadline is today, but the suit seeks to have the date changed to Nov. 14. [Hampton Roads]

Claire Lucas To Be Found In Contempt?

donkey-1.jpg
Donald Hitchcock's discrimination lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee takes a new turn today. A predetermined schedule ordered Gay and Lesbian Leadership Council board chair Claire Lucas to testify, but the investor refused to comply. Lawyers explained to Lucas that if she does not take the stand, she'll be found in contempt of court. The former National Stonewall Democrat director, however, continues to stand her ground. She is not being represented by DNC lawyers.

Testimony began yesterday with current homo honcho Brian Bond, who took over as executive director of the GLLC after Howard Dean and company sacked Hitchcock. Hitchcock alleges the firing came in retaliation for boyfriend Paul Yandura's criticism of the party. He also claims the DNC paid him less than his peers and has since blasted them for using gay people as an "ATM".

DNC CEO Reverend Leah Daughtry will testify on January 18.

Accidentally Signs Away £36,000

bgfinger.jpg
Scandal prone Boy George better learn to read before he writes! What started as a simple autograph turned into a very expensive agreement:

The gay entertainer was on the decks [at a nightclub] at 3am amid hundreds of revelers, when a lurking solicitor sidled up to the DJ stand.

Amid the writhing bodies and pumping music the lawyer, disguised as a clubber, handed the pop star a piece of paper. Thinking it was an autograph-hunting fan, the DJ duly obliged with a quick signature - which will now cost him £36,000 [about $73,872] - the cash he owes after being sued by a club promoter.

That promoter, Kasia Saleh, filed a lawsuit against George after he ditched a pre-paid gig to deal with his coke-related woes.

George, who also faces charges for imprisoning a Norwegian whore, must either pay Saleh the money or declare bankruptcy. The singer didn't have any comment, but one witness describes him as "gobsmacked," which is exactly what it sounds like.

Gets Revenge By Making Not So Veiled, Definitely Lame Threats

reichenhitlance.jpg
Lance Bass may have found himself a new man, but his drama with ex-beau Reichen Lehmkuhl reportedly continues. The current issue of tab-rag Star claims that Reichen, who Bass dated post-coming out, threatened to sue Bass for some unflattering commentary.

Heidi Parker writes:

Star has learned exclusively that the Amazing Race winner sent a letter to Lance's rep on October 25 that threatened to sue the pop singer, claiming his remarks in the November issue of GQ were defamatory. In the interview, the ex 'NSYNC-er claims Reichen cheated on him, adding: "I thought, 'Why does everyone hate him?" At the end, I was like, 'Ok, everyone was right.'"

These comments angered Reichen so much that the actor's attorney allegedly wrote to Lance's rep, saying "demand is made that Mr. Bass immediately cease and desist commenting on our client. In the event that Mr. Bass declines…you are advised that we expressly reserve the right to address the circumstances in the appropriate forum in the appropriate time."

Awesome! We can't wait for Reichen to come out and tell us all the gory details of his Lance Bass romance. It'll be like walking on our grandparents having sex, only much, much worse. Much.

• Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger did (not) make an unsurprising revelation today: the titular Terminator from the action franchise does dudes. His evil deeds in the first movie stem from an unresolved relationship with a 19-year old golf buggy:

He is so tormented because everyone expects him to live up to the tough-guy, robot stereotype and either make love to women or dismember them with a chainsaw.

"If you watch the first film closely it's obvious that what he really wants to do is kill Sarah Connor as quickly as possible so that he can get back 2029, mix a jug of margaritas and really sort out his personal life.

The Terminator drinks margaritas? There go years of fantasy. Sigh.

• Anti-gay Republican Patrick McHenry's finances sure are queer.

Jim Neal, who's fighting Elizabeth Dole in the North Carolina Senatorial election, confirms that he does dudes.

Soldier Funeral Protest Lawsuit Gets Green Light, With Some Subtractions

horses_ass-1.jpg
Wacky homo-hating Westboro Baptists may face some earthly justice.

The Fred Phelps founded congregation has been smacked with a lawsuit stemming from a 2006 military funeral protest. Though a Kansas judge tossed the defamation aspect of the suit filed by Arnold Snyder, whose son died in Iraq, Westboro may be found guilty of "intentional inflict of emotional distress" and invasion of privacy.

One of the dismissed defamation suits involved whether or not calling someone gay can be called defamatory. The judge ruled that it wasn't, nor are some of the zealous group's other statements:

Comments posted on the church's Web site that Snyder raised his son "for the devil" and taught his son how to "defy his Creator, to divorce and to commit adultery" did not defame the father because it was "not the kind of information that a reasonable person is going to assume was presented to be considered fact."

Ain't that the truth.

Trader Forced To Take Estrogen?

gaywad.jpg
Andrew Z. Tong filed a discrimination suit against former employer, uber-rich hedge fund SAC Capital. Why? Because the company allegedly made him take black market estrogen that turned him gay.

Key points via CNBC:

• After being hired at SAC, Tong alleges that Jiang came to him and told him he had a trading method in which his traders must not be too aggressive; that traders must be more effeminate and to do so, he directed Tong to begin taking female hormones.
• Tong says he then took the female hormones that he bought on the black market.
• Tong then alleges he suffered emotional and physical distress. The hormones, he says, caused him to begin wearing women's clothes. He also could not perform sexually with his wife, who wanted to have a baby.
• Tong says the sexual harassment included sexual relations between the two men.

Tong hoped to keep these details out of the news.

Apparently that estrogen made him into a naive Nancy.

Singer To Cough Up Stiff Fine

boy_george.jpg
Boy George just got a lesson in karma.

The queer entertainer had been scheduled for a 2005 launch performance at Los Angeles' Club GAY USA. In exchange for his presence and talents, George received about 10,000. Unfortunately Georgie Boy pulled out ten days before the Halloween appearance. Why? He had to deal with a coke charge back in London.

The infuriated club promoter, Kasia Saleh sued. After years of legal wrangling, Saleh's finally getting some payback. A judge ordered Boy George to cough up over £31,000 - or about $63,000!

At least it wasn't everything he owns…

All of us—gay and straight alike–need to act. Hate affects each and every one of us. It knows no limits, follows no clear set of rules, and has infiltrated our society’s most basic institutions.

Victims Claim Police "Indifference"

wrochatecrime.jpg
The Rochester Police Department's found itself on the other side of the law. Four men and women have filed a suit against the coppers - and the Monroe Sheriff's Department - claiming the boys in blue treated them unfairly after an anti-gay attack.

Not only did authorities allegedly treat the alleged victims with "deliberate indifference," but the lawsuit claims the injured parties were mocked. One woman claims they called her a "drunken dyke". Nice…
