The Oklahoma City politico simply can't think past the gays and our allegedly immoral ways. Debating opponent Ron Marlett last week, Kern, who caught national flack this year for launching a rhetorical jihad against the gays, cemented her political standing in an firmly homophobic platform. Repeating her assertion that same-sex lovers are a "moral decay that's destroying our nation from within," Kern also made the outlandish claim that we gays are the greatest threat facing the US of A: When asked about the biggest threat facing the United States, Marlett said it was dependence on foreign oil. Kern said it was homosexuality. Marlett, who has our hypothetical vote, described Kern's cancer remark as "chilling." We also think it's quite childish. |

Sen. James Inhofe, the radical conservative Republican from Oklahoma, is running an ad that has anti-gay overtones. The ad is effective at tying Democrat Andrew Rice to issues like gay marriage and higher taxes. The most recent polling has Inhofe leading by 22%. It's unclear why he'd hit so low when he'll win so easily. Maybe he's just a jerk? |

Tuesday's remarks were made at the Cleveland County Republican Club where she once again repeated her opposition to gay marriage and homosexuality. She opened by saying she was a “cultural warrior for Judeo-Christian values.” Some are just more righteous, right Sally? |

"A state lawmaker who gained national notoriety with an anti-homosexual rant was stopped from entering the state Capitol Wednesday when she was found to have a loaded handgun in her purse, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Patrol spokeswoman Chris West said Republican Rep. Sally Kern was not charged because there did not appear to be any "malicious intent" behind her actions." Unless there were gay folk about… [AP] |

CNN Anchor Defends English Language
Brent Rinehart appeared on CNN's American Morning todayto defend his anti-gay comic book. In case you weren't paying attention, the Oklahoma County Commissioner, who is running for reelection, published the 16-page book to highlight his commitment to destroying the queers. When asked whether it's relevant to his election, Rinehart insists that it is, because we are in a cultural war. When asked whether he's homophobic, Rinehart played (real) dumb: I'm not even sure as to what homophobic means. But let's just keep in mind that we are in a cultural war, not just here in the state of Oklahoma but nationwide." CNN journo John Roberts does not seem amused. You can tell when he does a little grammar check: "We should also point out that the word pedophile is spelled wrong in the two times that's it's used in this comic book." Check out the transcript, after the jump… |

The 16-page comic book makes fun of homosexuals and criticizes Rinehart's political opponents. It features a man and woman admiring Rinehart's often-controversial political career." This man's obviously severely mentally disturbed. |

» Awkward.
"An Oklahoma woman was busted for bestiality after her son stumbled on a trove of homemade movies showing her having sex with dogs." And, no, it's wasn't Sally Kern, although that would have been incredible. [NY Post] |
» False.
It's official. Anti-gay lawmaker Sally Kern's a big, fat liar. She claims PFLAG twisted her words to make it seem as if she came out against gay job discrimination. Well, PFLAG taped their 40-minute meeting and she repeatedly says she doesn't condone anti-gay employment discrimination. She says a whole lot more, too. [PFLAG] |

Kern's main focus in the Legislature has been on anti-gay initiatives, such as trying to determine where libraries should place books with homosexual themes. "God's Word does not change. … Therefore, my opinion also will not change,” she said last week. We have a suggestion, but it's not fit for print. |

The social conservatives of Concerned Women for America are organizing a "free speech" rally tomorrow to honor anti-gay lawmaker Sally Kern, who claims gays are worst than terrorists and called non-Christians infidels. [CNW] |

Anyone who thinks there is no homosexual agenda need only look here in Oklahoma to the newly formed Equal Rights Project created to help elect candidates by bridging the gay/straight community. The Equal Rights Project states "We felt we were uniquely qualified to help those running in the South and the Bible Belt. Running in these communities is much different than in California and New York. Our idea was to train, educate and support all candidates who support equal rights for all." |

Speaking with about 40 people at a contentious University of Central Oklahoma meeting, Kern again stood by her now infamous remarks on the "homosexual lifestyle": "If I knew it was being recorded, I'd still say the same thing. I will not back down from what I believe the Bible teaches.” Kern also took some time to reiterate her trepidation over Islam in America: "It's like oil and water: They (Islamic law and American law) won't mix." |

Oklahoma House Rep. Sally Kern has taken a stand opposing discrimination against gays in the workplace. The embattled lawmaker is also considering another meeting with more PFLAG parents at their local chapter… This is incredible, especially considering Kern defended herself just last weekend. It's worth noting that Kern did not apologize, according to a PFLAG press release, which we've included after the jump. It should be interesting to hear what Kern has to say to the anti-gay kids of University of Central Oklahoma's College Republicans. Someone bring a tape recorder. |

Fifty-nine year old social worker Ron Marlett announced this week that he'll run against the anti-gay politico in Oklahoma's next election. While he's been mulling running for a while, Marlett says Kern's anti-gay audio spurred him to civil action: I've just been concerned for some time about the damage done by extremes. I abhor hatred. I abhor hatred of people, of groups. I think everyone is worthy of respect. Marlett's definitely got our vote! Or, he would if we lived in that district. Kern (pictured, as we imagine her) remains unconcerned, telling her local NBC affiliate that she's in it to win it: "That's the political process so I have no problem. I'll do what needs to be done and the people will decide. That's the process." Let's hope it processes her out. |
