“I had no idea that I was marrying a gay man. I found him such an attractive individual.
He wanted to marry, he was fascinated with me, but only because of what he had seen on the screen, really.
It didn’t injure or damage me in any way, because he maintained a friendship with me and my future husband.
But it was a shock to me when it ended, I wasn’t prepared for that. It was just a terrible error I made as a very young woman. But I don’t regret it.” — Angela Lansbury, opening up to The Radio Times about her marriage to Richard Cromwell, who she married when she was 19 and he was 35.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

And that is EXACTLY what the GOP and the Mormon church want. Gay people marrying opposite gender people and being miserable and making their spouses miserable, all so the bigots can pretend they don’t exist.

Leave it to a simple minded clown to make a (narrow-minded) political comment about an entirely non-political story.
dwes09
How does a statement of easily verified truth make the one who states it a “simple minded clown”?
That IS what the “values” regressives want. Even the pissant Yianopolous has said so specifically in his writing.
Perhaps it is not so they can pretend we don’t exist. but it is certainly so they don’t have to see us behaving as they do with our spouses.
Your comment is the one more clearly simple minded and narrow minded as it ignores reality in favor of a regressive view of the world.

How are these “choice words”?
Definitely title bait. Boo 😉
michael_totzke
Precisely! That drives me nuts. I would call them very sensitive & kind words.

Female-worship and mommy issues are just as common as internalized homophobia, sociology and religion when it comes to why some gay and gay-leaning men persistently indulge relationships with women. He just wanted to marry a young female star. And aye, it doesn’t make everyone miserable. Some are in fact more able to keep their sanity and ego intact with these types of set-up so long as all the parties involved know what’s up.
Also, no, these are not “choice words”.
dwes09
They were specifically choice words because they did not indulge in the hand wringing and self pity all too common when a person finds out their spouse is homosexual (be it male or female). And most gay men “indulge relationships with women” to the point of marriage to escape the excoriation they imagine to be associated with coming out and being themselves.
Don’t you ever get tired of your neurotic imaginary world? Doesn’t your misogyny and distaste for authentic homosexuals ever get tiresome to you as it does to others?
Donston
I have never said anything misogynistic on here. I’m typically calling out the misogynists. Nor was I critical of what Lansbury said. Also, “choice words” almost always implies a mean-spirited nature. So, this was indeed kinda click-bait. Though that’s never surprising on this site. I’m always always looking outward, so that belies any theory of me being neurotic. Finally, “distaste for authentic homosexuals”- you must really be confusing me with someone else or misinterpreted something I said.
Yes, some gay and gay-leaning are with women for more practical sociological or belief system reasons. But for some it’s more driven by psychology. Whether due to a damaged ego, megalomania, the persistent need to please women (often connected to mommy issues) and/or internalized homophobia. There are other things that guide people.

Angela Lansbury was stacked (as the saying goes) when she was younger. She said she got up and walked out of a trailer that Marlene Dietrich had invited her too when it was obvious that not only was Marlene nude underneath that skimpy nightshirt she wore but kept opening her legs.

Richard Cromwell played the sensitive son of a cold and aloof British army general in India in the classic 1935 film “Lives of a Bengal Lancer” with Gary Cooper and Franchot Tone. The movie was supposedly a favorite of Hitler. As soon as you see Cromwell’s boyish face in the movie, your gaydar immediately goes off.

You weren’t kidding.

It might also be worth bearing in mind that this marriage took place in about 1945.

What a classy Lady! Still friends with him too 🙂 I doubt whether all the GOP Family Values guys that have been caught in airport bathrooms, hotels, bushes or their office are receiving anything like this heartwarming reaction.

How do you know she isn’t bi-phobic?
Jaxton
Maybe her husband was bisexual and she resented it? After all, male bisexuality destroys girl power.

MISOGYNIST! YOU CANNOT CRITICIZE WOMEN! EVER! FOR ANY REASON!

Hi, I had a similar or same experience. At a point when it was clear enough Gray was distracted from me, I needde to see who he had been talking to so I hired LOTUSCRACKER AT GMAIL who hacked his mobile phone, whatsapp and facebook. I got the shock of my life when I found out he was cheating on me with a guy. He apologized but I felt bad and still angry.
