The less said about this new commercial directed by Spike Jonze, the better. We wouldn’t want to ruin anything.

So, we’ll just give you the basics and be on our way: The Leftovers‘ Margaret Qualley stars as a socialite who abruptly escapes the stifling stuffiness of an anonymous gala in order to get a breathe of fresh air.

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Choreographed by Ryan Heffington (the man behind Sia’s “Chandelier”) and set to a maniacal anthem called “Mutant Brain” by Sam Spiegel (Jonze’s brother) and Ape Drums, this commercial for Japanese perfume company Kenzo is an absolutely godsend.
Enjoy.

Wow. Such praise! I didn’t know what to expect, but I expected something better than it is. Tired premise (breaking free from “stuffy” rich person dinner), and… this was REALLY choreographed? There is nothing original here.

Why is it every time someone serves up something weird like this it is automatically praised as innovative and artistic when really it is just weird for the sake of weird. It’s not really an original premise and the choreography was not that great, bad dress, bad shoes, bad hair and longer than it needed to be.

Not even! This felt more like a jazzed up spaz session than anything original. I wanted to like it, but it was mostly meh.

Just a re-hash of the spastic Chandelier video. Nothing new.

“Meh” isn’t that what goats say?
Not impressed with vid. Needed something original.
