In a shocking nude poster series, RuPaul’s Drag Race alum and trans-activist, Carmen Carrera plays the role of both Adam and Eve for Vienna’s Life Ball. This event, which is the biggest charity event in Europe, raises funds for the support of people living with HIV and AIDS.

The shocking photographs, captured by photographer David LaChapelle, come in two separate versions: the first shows Carmen with male genitalia, and the second with female genitalia. LaChapelle explains, “Gender lines are blurred and every person is unique in how they seem themselves. For me, the body is more than something to be looked at as an object of sexual gratification. The body is a beautiful housing for the soul that we are celebrating in this picture.”

The word’s on the poster translate into English as, “I am Adam, I am Eve, I am Me”. They are words that hit close to home with how Carmen feels about gender:
Your gender should not matter in your heart or in the way you express your personality. We shouldn’t be afraid to stick to a model, because there are so many types of diverse people on this planet. My message is: beauty has no gender. At the end of the day beauty is beauty.”
These posters come as quite a shock, seeing as Carmen has continually showed displeasure when it comes to being asked about her genitalia. And it seems that not everybody is happy about it…

The legendary Lady Bunny chimed in on Facebook by saying:
Well, if you ever wanted to see Carmen Carrera’s d(ck, here ya go! She’s the model for the Life Ball 2014 poster shot by David LaChappelle. She hid the fact that she’s trans to compete on Drag Race–a show for drag queens–and then slammed the show for it’s use of shemale, because that’s an offensive porn term. Now she has her d(ck hanging out but that’s not porn, it’s art. I think I understand…”
