The Catholic League Wants “The Gays” To Apologize For Assault In Bizarre CNN Interview

On Monday, Pope Francis sped through the international skies in his sleek Papal Plane, gabbing it up with reporters. Asked to remark on the fraught relationship between the Vatican and the gay community, the Pontiff raised eyebrows when he said:

I believe that the church not only should apologize to the person who is gay whom it has offended, but has to apologize to the poor, to exploited women, to children exploited for labor; it has to ask forgiveness for having blessed many weapons.”

So when CNN’s Chris Cuomo began his Tuesday morning interview with Bill Donohue, the President of the Catholic League, he was probably expecting him to support the Pope’s statement. Well, that didn’t happen.

“Do you feel like apologizing to the LGBT community?” Cuomo asks.

Donohue’s response?

No. As a matter of fact, I want an apology from gays! I’ve been assaulted by gays. I’ve never assaulted a gay person in my entire life!”

Things went from bad to perverse when Donohue launched into some strange story about “being assaulted by lesbians.” Soon after that, the entire interview devolved into a sarcastic bicker-fest.

“I don’t want to have a lifestyle thrusted in my face though!” Donohue yelled.

“How are they putting their gay on you?” Cuomo retorted, oddly. (“Putting My Gay On You” could be an amazing house track.)

Donohue’s response to Cuomo’s question is absolutely insane.

That’s right, Phil… you don’t want them thrusting that lifestyle in your face. You pay them to gently ride your face. No one wants nerve damage in their neck from thrusting “lifestyle” in their face… he’s no exception.

Also, it’s important to note that Phil Donahue is the Kim Kardashian of the anti-gay religious right, in that he got stature for doing nothing but promote himself. The Catholic League isn’t a League… it’s him. Just him.

I actually saw this interview yesterday and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This guy is a nut case. I had to put it on mute after 3 minutes.

What media groups like CNN NEVER point out is that the Catholic League isn’t really a league. It is Bill Donohue and a few employees, that have claimed to represent Catholics. The problem is, as you can see. They don’t, the POPE is considered infallible in Catholic doctrine. Technically by disagreeing publicly with the Pope he could / Should be excommunicated.

But it does’t matter, CNN, will ALWAYS bring on bigots as “Experts” whenever lgbts are discussed.

  • bobbyjoe

When CNN brings on someone like this, just remember that it’s the same thing as if CNN frequently brought on a Ku Klux Klan leader as a commenter. In other words, CNN deliberately “sells” bigotry. This kind of thing isn’t journalism; it’s a vile practice and CNN– and their advertisers– should be constantly called out on it.

This buffoon has long been fixated on gays. What an embarrassment for Catholics. No wonder the media love to give him air time. If the media were going to create an ugly, intolerant, homophobic bigot to represent the Catholic church they couldn’t hardly do better than this Bill Donohue blowhard. They really should change the name of Donahue’s organization from the Catholic League to the anti-Gay League.

Okay, Bill. You want apologies? You got it:

    – I’m sorry you are a filthy bigot because it makes life harder for the rest of humankind.
    – I’m sorry that you are allowed to continue to spew your hateful rhetoric.
    – I’m sorry you’re so pug ugly that no man would ever have you.
    – I’m sorry you cannot see your way clear to living the life your savior intended for you.
    – I’m sorry you are taking up space and resources.

So there ya go, Bill. There’s your apologies. Let me know if those aren’t enough as I have many more on tap.

Bill Donohue is an embarrassment to all primates. He is a parasite that preys on a segment of humanity susceptible to hate and he makes his money by feeding fools the kind of slop they thrive on. Donohue is so obviously sexually twisted that he spends his life concerned about other peoples love and pleasure as something he should be able to interfere with. If there really was such a thing as a just god Bill Donohue should be very afraid of dying.

The Catholic Church must excuse for paedophile scandals, its claims against condoms to struggle with the AIDS or its misogyny.

here’s some more verbal assault from a gay: fuck you and whtever horse you rode in on now apologize to me for the child rapes. uh huh “crickets” go fuck yourselves again

  • Paul Nadolski

I always love how a straight couple making out in public…to the point where it borders on foreplay…is acceptable to so many people, but two guys or two girls holding hands is “flaunting it”. Really, bitch?

  • gayspud-1

why should the gay community apologize for something the catholic church has done to the gay community for so long.besides its time for religion to go the way of the dinosuars. there is no real need for religion anymore
