We’ve written before about Jonny McGovern’s song for the ages “Gay Questions,” and now we’re pleased to report that this ode to circuit queens now comes complete with a superior video.

The epic four-and-a-half minute faux-torch song — complete with heavily AutoTuned lead vocals, increasingly filthy lyrics, and plaintive piano arpeggios calling to mind baleful performance artists stridently waving streamers — is an instant classic to our ears, and the video more than does it justice.

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

FINALLY! Someone takes on what passes for the “gay community” of today…a bunch of narcissistic, drug-addicted morons with Sphincters in which you can park a Buick (a big one…like a ’55 Roadmaster)! Bravo!

Pair him up with AB Soto and you have the perfect commentary on the whole “LGHBDWIDFMKOIWEKDAwhatthefuckeer” scene!

What a mean spirited video. Change out the attack on young, fit men for older, out of shape people like myself and watch the people scream fat-shaming. And agism. Do we really need to be attacking our own?
ChrisK
You all need to lighten up. It was funny and yes truthful to a certain part of the community. He reminds me of a gay weird Al Yankovic.

OK, do I want to know what “trunk butt” is?

@kurt_t: Do an image search for prolapsed rectum.

I thought the term “circuit queen” was in reference to older guys who used to do the party circuit. I could be wrong. I might have missed something. Now I’m curious.

@DeserTBoB:
Clearly you have never seen any of Jonny McGovern’s other satiric videos. He is very much a part of the gay community and would be quick to excoriate you for a lack of humor and a misunderstanding of his intent. Check out his incredibly superficial and hilarious video Dickmatized, or Sexy Nerd.

@Ryan Field: A circuit Queen is any gay man who follows the circuit parties regardless of age. The stereotype is someone who cultivates their physique and has no depth beyond small talk, and some are also crystal queens. But as with any stereotype, some circuit queens drop that persona when not at those strange parties. But most have that body as the gym is a common hobby to have (though not one I have ever enjoyed…i just cycle 60 miles a week and eat a lot) Not many “Burners” are about sex drugs and rock and roll the other 51 weeks of the year. Not many “circuit queens are about that hideous music and shirtless gyration in huge groups all the time.

I’ve always been a fan of Jonny McGovern’s, his podcast and his YouTube series. Being a person who appreciates low brow humor, Jonny definitely satiates abundantly. I think Jonny McGovern is good for the LGBTQ community, because unlike the stuffy, stick up the ass mainstream LGBTQ celebrity eunuchs attempting to normalize the gay, lesbian, trans, bi, or queer experience, Jonny puts gay sexuality to the forefront… unapologeticly. It’s high time we stop clutching our pearls and start embracing our whole selves.

Is he funny to someone? “Do you ever eat a sandwich”? Well you can’t starve yourself into gaining muscles so fire your casting director maybe? Oh, I get it. It’s post-modernism. Lots of cynical criticism, but zero analysis to a solution. Post-modernism; gee thanks.
So in the meantime Johnny McGovern gets a free pass being a literal homophobe by painting over his emasculation and deconstruction of gay men as humor. This isn’t progress, and it takes a real bore to trivialize physical fitness among gay men in the gay community when gay men are statistically more prone to hating their bodies than not otherwise. As if any young educated gay man looking for a good time would ever want to be left alone with Johnny McGovern. Hey McGovern: “Do you ever lift bro?” Lol.
He’s something of a cringey hypocrite. I say: “You’re obsessing over them for a reason Mr. McGovern, and it’s not because you and them attend the same parties a lot. Lol. So since you want hot guys to be nice to you then why not try paying it forward as opposed to under the table like you’re used to doing? There’s a solution. Afterall, they don’t owe you anything.” Lol. Why not make fun of the horrible bastard? He’s apparently considered a comedian by some for making fun of hot men who don’t return HIS affection. The only “truth” McGovern is exposing here is his own small-minded jealousy and hatred for hot gorgeous men who are built beyond spending their free time with the likes of him. Ironically that makes him the butt of his own jokes. So why not, lol!!
In closing Johnny McGovern reinforces “No femmes”, and does nothing to destroy negative stereotypes about them. What a homophobe. Ultimately he has homophobic questions, and is looking for homophobic answers. Sadly he may find a lot of those things right here on Queerty.
