Franklin Graham Attacks LGBTs Ahead Of Possible Non-Discrimination Ordinance In Charlotte

Antigay Christian “leader” Franklin Graham is no stranger to antigay rants, and he went full psycho on Facebook as Charlotte, North Carolina is poised to bring a proposed non-discrimination ordinance that includes gender identity to a vote.

Last year, Graham’s influence helped shut down the proposed ordinance, and he’s aiming to go 2 for 2 with the upcoming vote by trashing LGBT people as “predators and sexually perverted people.”

But wait, there’s more:

“LGBT activists are trying to hook their caboose to the ‘freedom train’ and drag their immoral agenda into our communities by claiming that this is a civil rights issue. Civil rights issues are very real and important—but don’t be fooled, this isn’t one of them. I heard one African-American minister say recently that ‘the freedom train doesn’t stop at Sodom and Gomorrah.'”

Note how he sneakily mentions African-Americans in order to bring them in as allies in his antigay agenda. It’s obvious and tired, and we hope black Christians in Charlotte don’t fall for it.

Of course, he also can’t miss an opportunity to make Christians the “real” victims:

In reality, this type of so-called “non-discrimination” law is being used to discriminate against Christians. Just ask bakers Aaron and Melissa Klein, florist Barronelle Stutzman, and others who were shut down or face fines for following their faith.

Where sexual orientation and gender identity laws such as this have passed in other places, florists, bakers, photographers, adoption agencies, and t-shirt printers have been punished by the government for not wanting to use their artistic talents to celebrate and participate in same-sex weddings, not wanting to promote the LGBT messaging in Gay Pride events, or for not wanting to place an adoptive child with two men.

The hearing in Charlotte for the proposed NDO is coming up this week. As per Graham’s Facebook page, a vote is possible on 2/22.

Graham is calling for “tens of thousands” of supporters (read: antigay activists) to rally against it, but we’ll join The New Civil Rights Movement in hoping that local LGBT people and allies show up to support it.

It’s important that these people see the faces of those they’re trying so hard to demonize, and equally important to show Charlotte’s LGBT-friendly mayor Jennifer Roberts that the residents she’s pledged to support will stand up for themselves, too.
