Jack Whitehall handles The Rock’s snake in first look at Disney’s “Jungle Cruise”

Much ado was made over the casting of Jack Whitehall in what’s being called Disney’s “first-ever openly gay character.”

Call us crazy, but we have a strong feeling that when the film is actually released, the gay-themed screen time will score somewhere between nonexistent and minimal.

Still, there’s going to be a lot of attention to how Whitehall, who is straight, will play the role, which is reportedly described as “hugely effete, very camp and very funny.”

The first look at Whitehall’s role comes via his Jungle Cruise costar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Instagram feed.

“On set of our DISNEY’S JUNGLE CRUISE and I made friends with a big ‘ol hungry Anaconda,” Johnson wrote, accompanied by a shot of himself and Whitehall handling an enormous snake.

He continued: “While my brave co-star and good buddy @jackwhitehall did his best to smile thru his fear of snakes. Good times with the animals of the Amazon. Next, me and Jack will swim with the piranhas.. completely against his will. The adventure of the lifetime.”
