The obvious upside to hosting your own celebrity-studded talk show is that you get to subject the visiting stars to whatever bizarre fantasies you might have been holding onto since childhood. Jimmy Fallon got to sing a duet with Barbra Streisand. Conan made his prop department actually construct a full-body Ben Affleck penis.
And now Andy Cohen has topped them both (get it? ’cause he’s a top?) by convincing Hugh Grant to reenact the famous “I’m just a girl standing in front of a boy” scene from Notting Hill on Watch What Happens Live, except with one major casting change.
Hugh Grant reprises his role as William Thacker, the simple bookstore owner, but the part of famous movie star Anna Scott, played by the even more famous movie star Julia Roberts, is now played by Cohen in a cheap-looking wig.
Cohen can’t be the first gay boy to dream of playing the object of affection opposite Hugh Grant in a rom com, but he may be the first to achieve it.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Although judging by this body language, there is absolutely no chemistry on set.
Enjoy:

Andy Cohen is aggressively annoying

@Xzamilio: ……..as is Jimmy Fallon. I wonder how many legendary musicians are going to feel when they look back on their careers and see the clips of that monkey Fallon howling next to them to their biggest hits?

Julia Roberts’ mother just died from cancer. Andy Cohen’s ill-timed nonsense is heartless and tasteless. Why does this man-child have a vanity show of his own?
Kieran
Embarrassing. For both of them.
If you’re going to re-enact a scene with Hugh Grant, why not something delightfully gay and classy like Maurice?
demented
Andy Cohen is a canker, and “Notting Hill” is awful.

Queerty says “….you get to subject the visiting stars to whatever bizarre fantasies you might have been holding onto since childhood.”
NOTTING HILL was released in 1999 and Andy Cohen was 31 years old. He might act like a child, but he was a full grown man when this fantasy came about.
Cohen’s childhood fantasies are more likely tied to Gavin McCleod, Herve Villechaize, Alison Arngrim, etc.

Because afterall, every gay boy dreams of being a leading lady. *BARF*
And we wonder why NFL players are reluctant to come out?
Xzamilio
@Kieran: They’re reluctant to come out because of rampant homophobia within the league. Cohen’s little trollish ass has very little to do with that, as it has been going on long before he was even born… or relevant.
