On Monday morning, pole vault world champion and Canadian Olympian Shawn Barber came out to his fans and friends in a Facebook post.

Barber wrote:
“Gay and proud! Thank you to my parents for being such a great support. I continue to grow as a person and have a great support group. My parents are my greatest support and have helped me through a lot recently. To my friends, you are always my friends and i love you too!”
In 2015, Barber was the pole vault world champion, and he currently ranks 6th.

He’s gorgeous. I just hope he’s being careful. Just last year he narrowly avoided a suspension for testing positive for cocaine. He claimed (and his claim was accepted) that the coke was the result of kissing someone during a sexual encounter. Play safe, Shawn!
