A gaggle of LGBTQ paranormal investigators from Columbus, Ohio have joined together for Queer Ghost Hunters, a new reality web series with a simple mission: To locate gay ghosts and assist them in coming out in the afterlife.

No, this is not a joke. This is totally, 100 percent serious. The show, we mean. The existence of gay ghosts, on the other hand, cannot be confirmed or denied.
Equipped with rainbow flags and “lavender cams,” the investigators poke around old insane asylums, abandoned bathhouses, empty prisons, “well-appointed mansions,” and other creepy places where one might expect to cross a homosexual spirit.
How about we take this to the next level?

“No one’s ever tried to look for these people before,” one of the investigators says. “They were just… lost.”
Until now.

It’s not the gay ghosts that bother me, but the transgender ones are really annoying.
Stu Maddux
Aaaactually, the ghosts we’ve researched that are not cisgender have the most interesting stories so far.
robho3
These shows are rediculous- gay or straight or bi or transgendered
Mykaels
I have been a member of a couple of LGBT paranormal research groups, but I must say, this is new and somewhat interesting to me, albeit strange.

Wow… just when I think humans can’t get any dumber.

So in the infinite space of the afterlife, souls still need to tackle the sexual identity of the fragile bodies of a small blue world. Yep, sounds right.
Stu Maddux
@robho3: Watch the trailer and you’ll see that we agree.
Jack Meoff
How much time and money was wasted creating that?
Stu Maddux
@Jack Meoff: We’ve been following them for a year. I funded it myself because of how much I believe in the way they are discovering stories of lost queer lives. I’m hoping we can fund season two through our Kickstarter in October but we’ll see.
Ohio Bear
@Mykaels: Ya know, it was actually a little strange for me as well. I think one of the other members put it nicely. We’ve always assumed (or never questioned) ghosts are heterosexual. I’ve watched ghost hunting and paranormal shows for a long, long time and it’s true. I couldn’t think of one that challenged the notion.
Ohio Bear
@robho3: Believe it or not, I don’t necessarily disagree with you. Even as a believer in ghosts, I wasn’t always impressed with the reality shows I saw. When I stumbled into Queer Ghost Hunters, it was different. It was interesting learning some stories about our LGBTQ history and bringing some of those to light for folks who may not realize things like how members of the gay community were imprisoned for sodomy or locked in asylums simply for being gay. The ghost hunting was gravy. Further, we aren’t scripted or dramatizing for ratings, so what we have is real and authentic.
Stu Maddux
“Queer Ghost Hunters is totally 100% serious” Wah? Hahhaha (just spit milk on monitor). The trailer, hell even the NAME, gives you some idea how much we are parodying ghost hunting shows too.
Ohio Bear
@Stu Maddux: What??? I was being totally serious when I donned my think bear shirt and waved the pride flag in the dark and fog. OK, mostly serious. OK, would you believe a little serious???
Stu Maddux
@Ohio Bear: You know what I’ve liked most about producing a web series with you guys? That you don’t take yourselves TOO seriously. But then you find really fascinating stuff that people are going think is cramazing.
Joe A
@robho3: Well all I can say is if you look at some of our preview clips at our Youtube channel I think you will find that we don’t take ourselves all too seriously like some of the others seem to. We have a lot of fun (like most LGBT people do!) with it too. Check out the clips and you will see. It’s all very tongue and cheek!
Joe A
@Mykaels: It is strange – that’s what makes it cool!. Finally queer people on the hunt for own queer ghosties. It’s a hoot. Fun stuff!
Joe A
@Ohio Bear: The most important thing about doing this show with you all is that you have FUN FIRST AND FOREMOST!!!
Joe A
@Stu Maddux: We hope everyone gets on board when it premieres and see’s what fun we have following the team in search of fascinating chats. That will make season 2 possible and beyond!
Joe A
@Jack Meoff: Please go and check out our Youtube channel. It’s a lot of fun!
Joe A
@spankt: We have had some interesting conversations with ghosts who lived in different times when things were not quite as open as they are now. Progress!

OMG this is hilarious. As an atheist and skeptic and scientific gay man, I can say that this piece of news was perfect to close my day. I can’t stop laughing and I think there are no limits to human stupidity.
ted72
@robho3: Thank you! Such absurdity. I can’t believe there are so many stupid people in this country. No, I do believe it…
SarcasaticMisanthrope
This is the stupidest thing ever. Seriously? Gay ghosts?
What other shit are the going to find next? Gay Demons?
Hussain-TheCanadian
I have one question, and one question only: where can I buy a t-shirt with the cute adorable ghost holding the pride flag????
See the trailer to know what I’m talking about 😉

I have to admit I find this fascinating. I so envy these people. I would jump at the chance to go on a real ghost hunt. I went on a tour of the Ohio State Reformatory last week and thought the place was just amazing. I would love to get a chance to go on a ghost hunt there.
