PHOTOS: A Fond Farewell To San Francisco’s Last Lesbian Clubhouse, The Lex

1393884_10152231912628503_38308681_nHave you heard? San Francisco is gentrifying. And it’s not just bad news for many residential tenants — those crazy rents are also squeezing out businesses. How many more $11 cocktail bars do we need? One more apparently, because lesbian haunt The Lexington Club has shut its doors for good in the Mission.

Of course, there are still plenty of fine gay establishments to get hammered at in the city, and many that cater to ladies on specific nights, but the Lex was the last real lesbian bar in the city. (Unless you count Bernal Heights’ quirky Wild Side West, which we highly recommend but don’t quite consider a “lesbian bar” these days.)

We’ll remember you fondly, Lex.
