Male thongs. They may be hot in theory, but rarely do they work out in real life. Few men can actually pull them off, and those who try often struggle. (The notable exception being, of course, Zac Efron. Or French guys.)

I am in no way an advocate for thongs. But this article is problematic. The use of people’s photos from their personal instagrams. To ridicule someone’s choices just doesn’t seem to be very positive message. And seems to me as if it is detrimental to this “queer agenda” of queerty. Now I wouldn’t wear a thong because I am very conscious of the way people look at me. But if someone makes the choice to do so should we bad mouth them.

Thongs give you the least visible tan lines, well apart from sun-bathing naked, obviously. I always find it hilarious when tanned guys strip off and their middle-third waist-to-knee is bright white. I think it looks so silly.

@Tobi: I LOVE tan lines. It makes me wanna bite the butt when it has a nice tan line. I think it is very sexy. My boyfriend is a mixture of black and white so he doesn’t have a strong tan line, but he wears speedos and I love the tan line that he has. I bite his butt frequently.

@ramonromano: This, and the fact that half the photos here are not of thongs at all. And some are certainly not swimwear, which is what this article purports to be about. Simple guide: if the would-be style gurus of Queerty can’t even accurately identify the garments that they’re talking about, I would suggest one clear response to their advice. Just say NO. If you look good in a thong – and some of these guys do – go for it.
