“I’m not into Asian men.”
It’s a line we’ve heard countless times, and it’s disturbing how many people never think twice before offhandedly making the statement.
Here in the states, Asian men get the fuzzy end of the lollipop — certainly in the gay community, but also in society as a whole.

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
As author Hoang Tan Nguyen astutely told Queerty, “The view of Asian men, gay and straight, as effeminate, lacking in the proper quotient of masculinity, and therefore, sexual undesirability, can be attributed to a Western colonial mindset that deems ‘the Orient’ as a mysterious, feminine space to be seduced, conquered, and penetrated.”

A new photo series by Taiwanese artist Teddy Tzeng aims to such these stereotypes, celebrating an endless arsenal of hot Asian men in all their glory.
As Gay Star News notes, it’s easy to see why they’ve quickly gone viral:

Great to see Asians represented however this is not the full representation of Asian. As always the dark sinned Asian are excluded…

Only number 3 from the top was hot to me.Rest were meh
njwest
Because incredibly toned, light-skin men with six-packs have *never* been accepted by the gay community. Truly this is revolutionary.
DDstar1me
Wait…y’all got black Asians? I’ve never seen a dark-skinned Asian.
Look, I’m a black southern boy. Sadly, all I was raised to see was white & black. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Asian man until college. Wow…I’m just thinking out loud to myself. LOL. That’s crazy.
ingyaom
Clearly, this exercise was just an excuse to get these guys to pull down their pants. Wish I had thought of it myself. Nice work.
ErikO
@DDstar1me: Yes, they’re from Southern and Western Asian countries like India.
drelocks15
@njwest: Right? I didn’t realize greasing down random in-shape Asian men represented “Asian masculinity.”
dwes09
I don’t see how this dispels stereotypes at all, at least in terms of physicality. All the men pictured are fine featured, have totally hairless upper bodies and are “pretty”.Most are posed in ways suggesting boyishness or sensitivity, not any sort of traditional masculinity. None of them display any of the ruggedness, masculinity or (notibly) hairiness one would find in traditional Chinese or Japanese art and less self conscious photography. Some even appear to have no pubic hair, which is about as feminized (or infantilized) as one can get.
These images actually seem to argue FOR a certain level of intrinsic androgyny or softness (beauty rather than handsomeness or ruggedness) in north and east Asian men. They would have benefited from less oiled bodies, less waxing of body hair, less stylized poses: were the intent of the images to depict any sort of traditional masculinity or even a gay notion of “butchness”.
ErikO
@Stilinski26: Very true. They’re going by what most people in North America think of when they think of “Asian people” when in reality there are many different variations of Asian people from all different countries, regions, cultures, etc.
davidjohng
I have no problem seeing or accepting masculinity in Asian men however these pictures are not IT.
Billy Budd
Delicious.
Paco
Very sexy. Unfortunately, many gays will only equate masculinity with the “trying too hard” caricatures that they worship.
Johnathan
Asian men are Intelligent, hot and very good lovers. That’s masculine enough for me.
startenout
They are all quite attractive, although I do have to echo the lack of diversity in their looks. It does not really represent a broad spectrum of Asian men, but perhaps that has to do with the photographer shooting primarily in his home base of Taiwan, I might presume.
Either way, these are exquisite men.
leigy
@DDstar1me: I believe the person was referring to South Asians. There are well over a billion of them with dark brown skin in countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Bhutan. Many of them are as dark as black people.
This is just a photoshoot of photoshopped East Asian men.
Stilinski26
@ErikO: According to westerners Asians= Chinese, mongoloids. They also seem to ignore that most Asian countries are melting pot of different ethnic backgrounds!
Brian
Asian men have great muscle mass in the torso and calves – really great muscle mass once they get working. It’s what’s between the legs that is often disappointing – not always but often.
SportGuy
@Prinny: Yeah, there all pretty meh.
dean089
Well, I am totally into Asian guys, all kinds, and any of the men pictured here are especially welcome to call me any time of the night or day.
mapmaker56
This is so much bullshit I don’t know where to start. Maybe if the author posted pictures of a variety of Asian men, I might believe him. But these are all Asian twinks. This is hypocrisy at its worst. How about some husky Asians? South Asians? Asians with body hair. (Yes, they do exist.) Asians over 25. I’ve only played around with a couple Asian guys, but they don’t exist in my part of the Midwest. This is just a frustrated asshole finding something to blame to get attention rather than dealing with improving his personality. I guess he’s never turned down someone he didn’t find attractive (which puts him at a Trump level of honesty).
Captain Obvious
@DDstar1me: There actually are black Asians and black Europeans. Africans migrated all over the world, at one point ruled the world(for a very long time), and largely influenced the majority of the world. There are people with darker skin because of that.
Parts of Asia, India, and Europe are quite noticeable but rarely seen. Italy for instance is disturbingly divided over it and many parts of Asia bleach their skin to hide it.
America doesn’t represent even 1/4th of the globe so nothing we experience here is the same as the rest of the world. Black people aren’t actually a minority we’re a majority.
klaw
All I see is a whole line up of feminine guys.
When I think of asian masculine men,I see plump bald headed man that’s intelligent, calm, and strong!…..by the way who doesn’t like asian men?….orientals n mongoloids alike.
Louis
Smh the problem is the so called femininity factor regarding some gay men in within this community always seems to be used to justify certain individuals obvious prejudices and intolerances.
This has always been true of this community the concept of masculinity is more about arrogance and narcissism and less about humility and being in touch with ones humanity and sensitivity.
The fact that being sensitive and compassionate and empathetic is looked at as being FEMININE or WEAK is absolutely pathetic.
Some gay men are more into sports others more into arts and culture nothing is wrong with either.
What is wrong however are the juvenile and narrowminded mindsets regarding the concept of what gay men deem as MASCULINE or NOT so masculine.
Great way to represent DIVERSITY and TOLERANCE people.
sourwolf
The western ideal of masculinity really isn’t applicable to Asian men living outside of the states. In my understanding, these are all men from Taiwan and/or China. The photo series is called “???? Photographed By Teddy Tzeng” and it actually includes one or two nude females. I wonder if it’s the intention of the photographer to dispel the “femininity” of Asian men in the Western understanding, or if it’s really words put into his mouth. I live in Hong Kong and most of the East Asian men I know only have hair in their armpits, groins and on their legs. South Asians are a different story. And by the way, bodybuilding culture is still growing. We have our fair share of hunks but by no means are there quite the same numbers as in the west. Just compare the number of muscular male celebrities.
So no, this isn’t a photo series to prove anything.
sourwolf
@sourwolf: if you can’t see the Chinese characters from of name of the photo series, follow the link provided in the article. You can find the album on Zheng’s Facebook page. Nowhere does it say anything about masculinity and femininity, etc.
DDstar1me
Schooled!
SonOfKings
@Louis: When it comes to male eroticism though, I think most of us are thinking in terms of secondary sex characteristics like body hair, muscularity, height, and a deep voice. Those attitudinal things you mentioned don’t seem to be affecting asian male pupularity. It’s the (incorrect) perception that they are not well-blessed with the physicality associated with white and black men.
SonOfKings
I’ve known many hairy-chested, swole, masculine asians, but these guys pictured here look pretty soft and smooth to me. He needs some thicker, darker, more rugged models to dispel the stereotypes.
Kangol
@Captain Obvious: Yes. Asian people–AND ASIAN AMERICANS (because people of Asian ancestry have been in the US for over 175 years!)–come in all colors, including very dark-skinned. This selection of hot guys is only a sliver of the larger pool of Asian and Asian American men (and that also includes mixed-race/hapa guys too). Queerty could do a far better job of showing all kinds of guys, including dark-skinned Latinxs, Native Americans, etc. Just look at T O W L E R O A D which clearly understands how to do this.
justyouandi
My best friend is Japanese, 5’10” tall, has a 6.75″ hard-on cut, thick dick (I measured it myself), has a hairy chest with a “happy-trail” down to his thick black bush, and has very hairy legs, just as hairy as my Italian friend. He shaves his face every morning, and if he is going out in the evening he often has to shave again. He is also an extremely handsome guy with an incredible body. I wonder if this photographer would have included him in this series?
nmharleyrider
Those photos have not changed my mind on their masculinity. They all look like hairless nelly twinkies to me
zxcv
Great job on being quite the bigot. I also wonder why Queerty never removes discriminatory comments (I’ve seen them other articles). Pathetic White Nationalist
Paco
@nmharleyrider: yeah… Because the more body hair, the more masculine. That is until purses fly out of their bearded mouths and their hairy hands begin to flap in the breeze.
kittyconrad
Every single one of these guys is gorgeous. All you whiners are overstuffed with envy.
He BGB
I dated Asian men when I lived near San Francisco. One I fell in love with but he couldn’t be out to his family or they would disinherit, him or something. From Taiwan. He still spoke Chinese when we went to Chinese restaurants which I found charming. One thing bothered me. He always talked like his race was superior and bragged about their “short noses”. It all seems strange now 20 years later.
Louis
Great examples of what I said earlier about this community people one referring to them as NELLY TWINKS and another referring to PURSES FLYING OUT OF THEIR MOUTHS when they open their mouths.
You people truly do have insecurities when it comes to MASCULINITY and what it actually means .
Its no different then how hetero conservatives act regarding gay men in this country its hypocritical as well as asinine.
The overcompensating neanderthal mentality is nothing more then regressive and primitive nonsense.
Some of you clearly have no capability of intellectually evolving in this regard and thats a sad testament to our so called TOLERANCE for one another.
Smh so ridiculous.
michael_andrade
@klaw: “Orientals and mongoloids”? What century were you born in? Oriental is so from my grandfather’s generation, and mongoloid is simply insulting.
