A big congrats to the drag mama herself, RuPaul, for winning his first ever Emmy award for Outstanding Host of a Variety, Nonfiction Or Reality Program.
The herstory was made on Sunday during night two of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
When the nominees were announced back in July, Ru sent out this dedication:
I dedicate this Emmy nomination to outsiders everywhere. Brave souls who stick to their dreams and make the world a more colorful place.

World of Wonder was quick to give a well-deserved shoutout to their award winning hit program:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

Rupaul is so deserving of this honor… I’m very happy for Rupaul Charles and drag mama Ru.
Kumquat
Why do we call it “herstory” when he’s receiving his award outside his drag persona, or does s/he identify as a woman outside drag too?
Jack Meoff
@Kumquat: Regardless of gender identity using the word herstory is just ridiculous. Even a lot of feminists are against the bastardised version of the word history and feel that it sets back their cause. It is not even necessary in the context of this article.
Brian
RuPaul is a good female impersonator but I can’t think of anything he’s done for male homosexual rights.
robho3
@Brian: leave it to Brian to say something negative about a great moment for a truly inspirational person. Congratulations Rupaul!

I love how people are getting upset or have an opinion about a damn word that RuPaul uses constantly on his show. In and OUT of drag. I’m pretty sure RuPaul doesn’t give a damn if they use the word seeing as every contestant calles him MAMA Ru when he is in his suits during the walk throughs. If you don’t like the wording of the damn title then why read the damn articles. IDIOTS.

Thrilling! So well-deserved. RuPaul has created a terrific show that is both real and entertaining, and at the same time, a send-up of reality shows.

@Jack Meoff:
Before Transfeminism reared its ugly head, gender used to be a playground for gays and lesbians. Men referred to each other as “she,” women as “he,” and it was certainly nothing anyone with sense committed suicide over.
Brian
@throwslikeagirl: How can a show about fake women be a reality show? It’s make-believe, not reality.
While his brothers are out there protesting black shootings, what is RuPaul doing? What has he ever done for male homosexual rights?
RuPaul is no representative – certainly not for me.
DCguy
About time!
DCguy
@Brian:
You’really right Brian, Roy Cohn is a FAR better representative for you.
DCguy
@Jack Meoff:
Because everything RuPaul does is somewhat tongue in cheek and he uses that word. Calm down.
Sluggo2007
@Brian: Gee, Brian! Another profound statement! Why don’t you just off yourself now and put yourself out of your misery?
JessPH
Yaaaas Kween Mama Ru!
A well-deserved win for such humorous and articulate host / judge.

A well-deserved win! Drag Race is such a fun watch and Ru is the hostess with the mostest.
ErikO
@Kumquat: Exactly, Ru Paul is not a woman or even Trans.
