A gaggle of concerned parents and grandparents in Ontario really, really, really, do not want sex-ed being taught in their local schools. So they’ve taken to the streets in protest.
Around 50 people crowded the streets of Echo Bay, a township in Algoma District, Ontario, waving signs that read “The Rape of Childhood,” “Silence = Yes!,” and “No Porn In Our Classrooms.”
They were protesting a new proposed curriculum that would teach third graders about homosexuality and gender identity, and seventh and eighth graders about oral and anal sex, as well as contraception and STD prevention.

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Rhoda Slagel, a retired schoolteacher and grandmother of four, feared that teaching children “explicit sex acts” will “encourage kids to go in a way that a lot of parents don’t want their children to go.”
(Earth to Rhoda: The kids are going to “go that way” eventually no matter what. At least this way they’ll be somewhat prepared.)
But it was Paul Mathewson, a grandfather of three and organizer of the protest, who cut to the heart of the matter when he said that Ontario is suffering “a gradual shift from Judeo-Christian understanding of life to secular humanism.”
He fears that teaching kids the truth about sex will eventually lead to the complete downfall of Christianity.
Said he: “There was a time when the church was the conscience of society, the conscience of what’s right and what’s wrong. That’s shifting now. The whole idea of establishing what’s right and wrong, establishing values, has shifted from the church to the politicians!”
Sorry, Saint Paul, look no further than Bristol Palin to see what happens when kids are not educated about sex.

Just ask the Duggar girls if not having sex ed prevents rape.
Chris Sharkey
Just ridiculous!
Richard James Henning
I see the Grandparents, where are the parents (of school age children)?
Justinius Phoenix
These kids should learn just like these peoples parents did, from there cousin, behind the barn at the end of prom night….. so that nine months later some idiots can be born to protest sex ed
Cynthia Deitrich
Good grief
Tony Chaplinski
what better place to learn about sex then the playground and most parents won’t explain it correctly to their children
Steve Davies
It hasn’t in other countries, so we must conclude that there is something very wrong with the USA
Atrius
In that case, here’s to the fall of Christianity!
Christopher Hayward
Our children need to know what not to do with their own bodies, this is why we need sex education.

Morality is doing the right thing no matter what you are told;
religion is doing what you are told no matter what is right.

Let us therefore reject all superstition in order to become more human; but in speaking against fanaticism, let us not imitate the fanatics: they are sick men in delirium who want to chastise their doctors. Let us assuage their ills, and never embitter them, and let us pour drop by drop into their souls the divine balm of toleration, which they would reject with horror if it were offered to them all at once.
— Voltaire, Homélies prononcées à Londres, quoted from Jim Herrick, “Écrasez l’Infâme,” in Against the Faith
Jim Platt
If you do not understand what is happening when your childhood is being raped, it’s because you have yet to learn what rape is and how to defend yourself.

We’re still having this nonsense?? Chlamydia and STI outbreaks mean nothing to these idiots??

Poisoning kids minds with their outta touch feelings of paranoia. Drink you Yeezus juice & shut da hell up.

You protestors are really fucking stupid!! Education never leads to felonies!! Grow a brain dipshit
AtticusBennett
i’ve been pretty involved with counter-protests to these INSANE people here in ontario. a big issue is that they INSIST their objections are NOT “anti-gay”. well…..thing is, on the Facebook groups organizing the protests against the curriculum revision, people can’t even contain their anti-LGBT hatred.
so, i collected examples:
http://littlekiwilovesbauhaus.blogspot.ca/2015/02/homophobic-bigots-protesting-non.html
how, when reading all that nonsense, can one say “oh no, this isn’t about being anti-gay at ALL!” ????
or this guy, who was running for the PC party…
http://littlekiwilovesbauhaus.blogspot.ca/2015/06/why-is-jason-herasemluk-so-consumed.html
the curriculum has been laid out. people instead choose to lie about it, then complain about the lies, and protest them. which makes no sense.
the curriculum has been revised, it was a much-needed revision, and the protestors are the very reason this revision was so important. their ignorance, and bigotry is astounding.

That’s it, Ontario is off my travel list. First they try to prosecute a movie theater for showing Life of Brian, and now this! What kind of troglodytes populate that backward excuse for a province?
AtticusBennett
btw – it’s not “teaching kids about oral and anal sex” -it’s teaching about consent, including consent to oral and anal sex. the reality, as anyone who understands reality knows, is that some kids don’t know they’re being abused, some kids don’t know they can say no, some kids don’t understand what is being done to them.
it’s been spun by idiots into “ANAL SEX CLASS!!” – which it’s not. it’s teaching kids what these things are, so that they can say NO.
AtticusBennett
@Merv: you’re not gonna travel to Ontario because idiots in backwater towns object to our provinces sex-ed curriculum? i have a sneaking suspicion that your “travel list” isn’t much more than 2 blocks to the local grocery store, anyway.
Eddie Jr
This just goes to prove that there are SOME idiots in Canada. They are just afraid of the kids learning what the parents never did.
AtticusBennett
@Eddie Jr: the biggest culprit has been the conservatives – the rich white conservatives have had outright LIES about the curriculum translated into different languages, and distributed at rallies.
so what happens? many folks attend the rallies. but, to what end? if what they’re protesting about are actually LIES and not things that are in the curriculum, then there’s nothing in the curriculum that needs to be amended! they don’t realize this. they’re too stupid.
so, we get legions of angry parents who show up to a rally, which would seem impressive for the bigoted side, only to have them be all ‘we don’t want our kids learning about blow job class!”
well, you’re in luck. they’re not going to and they never were. but thanks for showing up.

Religious zealots !!!!

People like this need to stay home and call it a day. Bristol Palin good have used some sex ed.
Madelaine Bencivengo
stupid. education is always the better route to go.
Nelson Kaiowá
No sex ed = easier child rape. Keep them ignorant and you can manipulate them the way you want as a father or uncle, right, you filthy child fuckers? There is no risk in sex ed, there is a lot of risk in leaving it out.
Mary Kramer
Stupid
Daniel Richards
You can’t protect them forever. They’re going to do it eventually.
Stache99
@AtticusBennett: That’s usually the case in all these matters. Same people that are anti abortion too. They’re so stupid and short sited though. Like what do you think helps cut down on abortions?
Mark Angstman
What is wrong with EDUCATION?
AtticusBennett
@Stache99: or the reality that the anti-Choice crowd also demonizes unwed mothers.
i mean, maybe more women wouldn’t terminate their pregnancies if
1. it didn’t cost so much to be uninsured and deliver a baby in a hospital
2. you get shamed for being unmarried and pregnant
they hate abortions, but they also hate condoms. they promote celibacy, but like bristol palin, they can’t help but have guys ejaculate inside them.
or it’s like the Duggars – “if our kids get sex ed they’ll realize we’re molesting them!”
Kelly Keigwin
And allowing kids to get pregnant or STDs doesn’t lead to the “rape of childhood”?
Lisa Barrett
Ignorance is not bliss.
Chris Holmes
That’s how we end up with unwanted teen pregnancies. Knowledge is power! Regardless of subject
Jenna Kaylee Merrick
Sex ed is important and avoids childhood rape. If your child doesnt know their private places how can they tell you if they have been touched? How can they know thats a spot no one touches except themselves or their doctor? Let alone not teaching sex ed teaches kids that sex is dirty and should never be discussed. They are unaware of how pregnancy works, how STDs are transmitted, teen pregnancy rates jump, sexual assault rates jump ect. Sex education that teaches safe sex and consent is the only way to prevent these issues. Also let us keep in mind these people are often against abortion..so when your 13 year old daughter is pregnant and she cannot have an abortion what will you have to say? Thats a childhood and entire life changed in an instance because you didn’t want to be a good parent.
Mark Siegel
if the parents don’t teach it some one has to do it
Rhoda Mackenzie
lol
badtungsten
@Justinius Phoenix: So you’ve been to Alabama I take it?
Trevor McGee
Don’t let a child see that sign!
Joe Eugene
Back in the (hypothetical?) day, kids saw domestic and farm animals “doing it” and saw the results. There was no big mystery about reproduction. And the world didn’t implode. Why do we think 21st-century kids can’t deal with info that 17th-century kids took for granted?
Caylin Joey Gerhardt
Wilson W Wong
i’m not sure that these people either know what sex is let alone had it.
Circle O'Love
This would not be a “thing” if it were hockey season.

my high schoo could hae use sex ed hell there were so many stds and pregnant girls it wasnt even funny
