Back in November, festering blob Ted Cruz attended a fun conference for religious folk and shared the stage with Kevin Swanson, a pastor who hollered, “Yes, Leviticus calls for the death penalty for homosexuals! Yes, the Apostle Paul does say that homosexuals are worthy of death! His words, not mine, and I AM NOT ASHAMED! I am not ashamed of the truth of the word of God!”
Sounds pretty bad, right? Well, since then, Cruz’s take on Swanson has been a resounding “meh.” Months went by with no word from Cruz about whether he agrees with Swanson, or disagrees, or was uncomfortable, or was even paying attention during the speech.
Finally, an unnamed campaign spokesperson has offered this: “given these offensive comments, it was a mistake for Senator Cruz to appear at the event.”
And that’s it. No apology. No sorry. Not even a “whoops.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Christians love to accuse Islam of being a violent religion, but Jesus Christ, it’s pretty hard to tell the difference between a guy calling us “worthy of death” and the people throwing gay teenagers off of buildings. Trump thinks America needs to ban Muslims from entering, but maybe it’s time to ban anyone who believes in magic.
By the way, there’s still the matter of all the other lunatic pastors who’ve endorsed Cruz, like Mike Bickle, who says that gays getting married is a sign of the “End Times,” and that “the forbidding of marriage is an escalator of the darkness of the End Times as well.” Okay Mister Bickle but the thing is is nobody’s forbidding marriage. Maybe you don’t understand what’s happening as well as you think you do.
Bickle also said that God picked Hitler to punish Jews for not believing in Hitler. To be clear, Ted Cruz’s website is still boasting about Bickle’s endorsement.
Now Cruz probably doesn’t endorse the killing of gays or the extermination of Jews. Probably. He could certainly clear up the confusion by taking a stand one way or another. So why doesn’t he?

This is what is so disgusting about the mainstream media. They paint Trump as the extremist in the field and yet because Cruz speaks a bit softer and is a more typical politican they don’t call him out for this.
Imagine, if a politician went to a meeting of a group that supported killing all Asians, or supported raping women, would the mainstream press not call them out as an extremist?
Cruz attended this and yet the media treats him as if he is a normal politican.
Marco Rubio is called a Moderate, yet he has put together a group trying to figure out how to reinstate andti-LGBT marriage laws AND has said that women who were raped should have to carry the child to full term.
Yet places like CNN call them moderates with a straight face.

It’s good to know that sometimes you can judge a book by its cover. Ted Cruz looks like a totally punchable shit bag, and his actions just make you want to punch him even harder. No wonder he has no friends in Congress.

“A race to the bottom,” as another commenter said. The take away is that Separation of Church and State has never been more relevant. If these believers attempt to impose their will upon all, both factions will be tainted. Politics + religion = oppression. Religion + politics = futility. Neither enhance the other. Church leaders, in political spheres, only show how little faith they have in their Father’s Word. Insufficiently, the talentless church leaders, tangled in worldly pursuit, politically gin their hollow and non-transformative message. Oppression is the next logical step. Who will be targeted next? We shall not be burdened by the religious beliefs of others. Separation of Church and State has never been more relevant. The Supreme Court has been tainted. Politics is tied in a non-functioning ball. Christians are taking the path of least resistance, conveying the Gospels in an embarrassing and inhospitable way. Who would do that? Symptoms are so prevalent. It is no wonder the Republicans want to cut education.
Ian Cescu
Of course he’s not sorry. If he gets his way gays, Muslims, and of course witches, will all be burned at the stake. All Hail King Cruz The Announced One! King of the Christian empire of America!

*Disclaimer: I am not a christian.
Having been raised a catholic I can tell you that you will hear something along the lines of what Swanson said in pretty much every church. Sooner or later, every priest gets around to mentioning Leviticus. It’s not a misquote of the bible or anything. I’ve heard the ‘death to gays’ thing at a straight wedding, ffs.
But! The correct response to christians is:
•christ died on the cross so that sins are forgiven. So, when the laws of god (the ones written in the bible) call for punishment for a sin, the blood of the Lamb (the sacrifice of Jesus) stands in for all of us and he has already suffered on the cross in order to satisfy that requirement for blood or punishment of sins. This is the reason why christians are not required to make animal sacrifices, for example, because all of the blood that would usually be shed by a sacrificial lamb, for example, has already been shed by Jesus (called “the Lamb of God”).
This stuff is in the bible, and it’s actually the point of christianity. Not all these laws and do’s and dont’s- we are already forgiven for our sins. God does not call for sacrifices to be made to him- he already sacrificed himself for us. To claim otherwise is a really evil misinterpretation of the message of jesus.
Christians MUST be called out on this on every occasion possible. It shuts a lot of them right down.

twinkie1cat
No Republican is worthy of our vote. They are an abomination to Christianity and Christians.
Now if anyone wants to use the Bible in context and stop pretending that God is against gays remember two things:
1. The quotes from Leviticus, the Old Testament quotes passed away when Jesus died and was ressurected. They were intended for a certain place and time and did not refer to homosexual orientation or sex, but to practices of the heathen religions that involved having sex with temple prostitutes in order to gain power with their false gods.
2. The quotes from Paul are about the same thing, idol worship. He was having problems with people from the early Christian church still engaging in the same kinds of heathen practices, particularly the Corinthians. God demanded that if you want to follow him, you follow only him, not false gods. Paul had no concept of homosexual orientation.

I’m sorry to say, but you are probably incorrect, he probably does intend or at least desire to kill all gay people. Ted Cruz is the son of a major Dominionist minister and almost certainly a Dominionist himself. He is FAR more dangerous to liberty and freedom than any other GOP candidate, and he really can only be understood if someone understands Dominionism. Here is a short primer on what it is and on what Ted Cruz almost certainly believes – the mainstream should be carrying this – but most of their reporters don’t understand it, so they don’t cover it. @DCguy:
You stated, “In typical dishonest Right Wing fashion you make a vague claim with no details and cannot provide any evidence for your statement.”
There is nothing “vague” about my comment. Liberals have done such a bravo job of convincing Americans that “the separation of church and state” is part of the U.S. Constitution. Not only is the separation of church and state not in the U.S. Constitution, it is not in ANY of our founding documents.
You stated, “So please Alister [sic], enlighten us, do you support Ted Cruz going to that meeting with the leaders of Churches who want to legalize the death penalty for being LGBT?”
Talk about your non sequitur, my post had no mention of Ted Cruz. And learn to spell my name correctly.

@twinkie1cat:
More interesting Bible commentary —
Now if anyone wants to use the Bible in context and stop pretending that God is against gays remember two things:
1. The quotes from Leviticus, the Old Testament quotes passed away when Jesus died and was resurrected. They were intended for a certain place and time and did not refer to homosexual orientation or sex, but to practices of the heathen religions that involved having sex with temple prostitutes in order to gain power with their false gods.
[I think that Levitical (and any other) narratives saying that gays should be killed were the accepted ‘religious attitudes’ of their day. I don’t know what the ‘secular attitudes’ were.]
[Paul had no concept of homosexual ‘orientation’ you say. That sounds about right. But Paul did have some very ‘gay unfriendly’ things to write. Here’s something to always remember about what Paul said of his own writings —
…our knowledge is partial and incomplete
…we see things imperfectly…
…All that I know is partial and incomplete…
(1 Corinthians 13:9,12)
Those verses importantly reveal that whatever negativity Paul wrote about LGBTs is very questionable as to divine value or authority and are not based on modern and realistic attitudes that are more positively expressed today.
Everyone everywhere should strive to seek out new and better ways of accepting and treating LGBTs. Here’s a few good ideas —
1. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another….Romans 14:13
2. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God…..Romans 15:7
3. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing or tolerating with one another in love….Ephesians 4:2
4. …live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble…1 Peter 3:8
5. Be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone…Titus 3:2
6. Stay out of the seat of the scornful.
7. Faith without good, quality works and deeds won’t amount to a hill of beans…..James 2:26]
Ted Cruz…What a pinched sausage he is. Wow.
[Hehehe…hehehe…lol…]
Transiteer
A Presidential Candidate who supported domestic genocide and ‘cleansing’ based on fairy stories from lunatic religions. Yeah – American politics and politicians are a real f**king pile of turd. When did this all go off the rails? Could it be when Reagan courted the Evangelicals?? Long past time to correct this. The system is broken, money rules the Partys and ‘personalities’ replace ethical, honest, good hearted nation building politial managers. Kennedy and Johnson got real changes that made things better for on-the-street Americans. The right-wing since then has worked to reward the rich (and themselves) at the expense of on-the-street Americans. Time for a Revolution folks.
