There’s really only one adequate word to describe what just happened at the Miss Universe Pageant: “oops.”

During Sunday night’s pageant, host Steve Harvey called out Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner, and the crowd went wild.

One minor detail: Miss Colombia didn’t win, Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, did.

“Okay, folks,” he explained after an agonizing (in retrospect) few minutes of celebration for Miss Colombia. “I have to apologize. The first runner-up is Colombia.”

“This is exactly what’s on the card,” Harvey said, holding it up, clearly uncomfortable. “I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake. It was on the card… Please don’t hold it against the ladies.”

Yeah, nobody was holding it against the ladies, Steve — definitely your bad.

Watch the awkwardness below:

Miss Universe 2015 host Steve Harvey TV announces the wrong winner. He announced Miss Colombia as winner but it should have been Miss Philippines. What a terrible error on live TV for the whole world to see. #MissUniverse
