Do these florists question their customers, as to whether they’ve ever participated in adultery, or if they are divorced and attempting to re-marry? Those are sins, and Jesus said that if anybody has a lustful thought for another person, then that person has committed adultery in his or her heart — a big sin. And God HATES divorce, he says so himself in Malachi 2:16. So, if the florists want to be genuine servants of their god, then they should be asking these questions and not allowing themselves to participate in sinful unions. Evangelical Churches are losing members left and right because the pew warmers are beginning to realize that same sex marriage was never condemned in Scripture. They gave their hard earned money in the collection plates thinking they were doing God a favor on one hand, and thinking they could advance their own standing in their church communities with their feigned loyalty to the cause on the other hand.
That process has managed to enrich a few power hungry pastors who seek to have the ear of lawmakers, because that amplifies their perceived sense of authority to those in the pews. But once those lawmakers were elected, they did nothing to make good on their promises. And these pastors now understand that as well, and are having a very difficult time keeping their flocks intact … (and giving).
As the Supreme Court nears its decision on marriage equality on a national basis, Right Wing Politicians hoping to stay in the game are pulling out all the stops to at least appear to be appeasing evangelical Christians. That’s the whole purpose behind these so called “Religious Freedom Acts.” They just want to keep the evangelicals animated so they will vote in the next Presidential election.
And nobody is buying it anymore….not even the evangelicals.
And that’s a good thing!
