Tom Hanks was recently asked about his thoughts on the gender swapping remake of “Splash,” with Channing Tatum in the role of merman and came up with a great idea.
Hanks, who starred in the original 1984 version opposite Daryl Hannah, said he is in favor of the way the film is being made, but thinks they should do a same-sex version with Tatum and himself falling in love.

“Look, I figure if they were really going to be bold, I would come back as Allen Bauer, and I would go off with Channing Tatum,” Hanks told the Associated Press. “That would be a bold movie. And I am suggesting it right now.”

Hanks is currently starring in “Inferno,” directed by Ron Howard, who also directed “Splash.” The AP asked if Howard would be directing the remake, which he said is still undecided.
