Do you believe in love at first sight?
In a hilarious new video, French comedian Grégory Guillotin and his comedy troop Nou set up hidden cameras at a busy Parisian mall to conduct a brave social experiment.

The experiment documented the reactions of random straight dudes having their hands caressed lovingly by another guy as they rode up or down an escalator. The responses range from bewilderment to anger to flattery and everything in between.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Check out the video below.

This is what I will think of every time a straight guy stands by his need to cat call women.
Paco
I wonder if they edited out the parts where they started to get chased down.
Jim Fortier
I don’t think they were all str8
Aristo Pratt
I, being a gay guy would be downright furious if a guy touched me that way.
leobaga
Just shows you France is quite homophobic. Do that in Quebec and you’ll be embraced. Straights guys here are way cooler.
Chris Hilton
Michael Keith the old man with his wife is the best haha
Annie Domzalski
Why is this funny, and why would this mean these men are homophobic? I’m a straight woman, and save for maybe a child, I would be irritated at any stranger touching me like that. It’s invasive and unnecessary.
rickhfx
Str8 people are primitive, they react with violence often. The French in France are very homophobic, strange for a people that like to think they are lovers. Str8 people, never try to figure them out.
Steven Burr
Funny

There is something really creepy about all these “straight guy reacts” video.
Mario Francisco Garcia
Terrible prank.
DCguy
Oh No!!! Straight guys treated the way they treat women!
robho3
I am so sick of these video pranks people are doing just to get a rile out of people . I find it very disrespectful and tacky.
Paco
And we wonder why there is gay panic.
Michiel Naude
So full of hate…
Brian
How do you know that the guys being touched were straight-identifying? I don’t. You shouldn’t assume that they are straight-identifying.
As for them being offended, I too would find an unsolicited touch offensive. It’s offensive regardless of sexuality.
It would be interesting to see this touching experiment performed on women – we’d see how far they would go with it.
tardis
@Annie Domzalski: It’s not funny to a lot of us, but to people are aren’t understanding of what being gay is might find this funny. Some of these men are representative of homophobia because some of them responded to violence. Sexuality is really interesting. I imagine those that reacted violently would have had a different reaction if they weren’t surrounded by their peers.
Of course, I don’t think anyone would appreciate being touched like that, but there’s no negating that there are a lot of attitudes at play here.
Dan Levin
I’m not sure this is okay. If people were to touch women without consent, they’d be arrested. Why is this okay to do to men?
Chris Duffy
Well….It is France. So they don’t have a bug up their ass about everything.
Sam Oropeza
Seen this prank a lot lately.
Billy Budd
Americans originated from PURITANS in New England and they are STILL Puritans in the 21st century! Touching hands is totally normal and you are making a fuss saying that it is immoral and invasive. You are being stupid, conservative and sexually repressed.
Victor Lopez
Too much testosteroneð???
Norman Wong
This is legally a battery. Uninvited contact. The guys should sue.
silveroracle
I could tolerate the touching hands but the eye contact afterwards is asking for trouble.
Surely that’s invasion of space.
gababy2
I thought it was in some north african country but it was in France…. lol
Peter Rock Favazza
We are from France.

@tardis: Lighten up and get a life!

Huh. I hate being in a crowded elevator or subway car where contact is unavoidable. But the video demonstrates something I don’t mind, where a guy is communicating his attraction to another guy in a way both brazen and subtle at the same time. Would I recommend it? No. Would I do it myself? Only if I were certain of a guy’s being gay and be fairly certain of a positive or neutral reaction.
TL;DR I don’t mind this done to me but do not recommend others do it, nor would I do it to a total, complete stranger under similar circumstances (as a mall escalator, sidewalk, etc.)
Doug
This isn’t a funny video. Almost every male seems to get indignant and pissed off. I thought Europe was supposedly more laid back about men touching or kissing each other?
Will Glitzern
I’d be flattered, even if it was a woman.
Stached1
@Billy Budd: So would you be cool with a man who is a total stranger coming up and grabbing your tiny c o c k or your a s s?
I’m OK with someone touching my hands but if they do further than that I’m not OK with it.
Stached1
@Doug: Certain parts of Europe are, or were in the past; but France is not one of those places. Italy is though, and Spain as well.
heavylifter
@DCguy: “Oh No!!! Straight guys treated the way they treat women!”
Really, I can’t remember the last time I saw a straight man do that to a women on the escalators.
In fact if a guy did that to a woman, he would face charges or at least questioning and a warning by police if they caught him – in my part of the world anyway.
This is hypocrisy is why so many reject feminism these days.
Sluggo2007
The way some of these assholes reacted, you’d think the guy grabbed their dicks!
Nahald
Wouldn’t this be illegal? Especially here in the U.S. ?
DCguy
@heavylifter:
If you have never seen that it is because you don’t pay attention. Ask any attractive girlfriend of yours about riding a crowded subway, a bus, standing in line, or even riding the escalator at a mall. Every single one of them will most likely have at least one story like this.
Billysees
@Dan Levin:
” I’m not sure this is okay. If people were to touch women without consent, they’d be arrested. Why is this okay to do to men? ”
I think most folks would say this is NOT OK. There’s something stupid and creepy here.
Tait47
Thanks for the good laugh today.
Paco
@Sluggo2007: I know! How dare straight men not be open to being inappropriately touched by other men they don’t know. Homophobic assholes!
Stache
Most looked to be from the Middle East or Eastern Europe. No surprise in the reactions.
Stache
@Paco: Watch the last part with the women doing it. They’re all real happy then.
Blackceo
I guess I’m the only germophobe here because my reaction is more so the fact that people have their bare hands on an escalator railing to even be in position to have it grazed by someone. Guess they never saw those shows that do the q-tip swab tests that reveal all the nastiness that is on those escalator railings. I wouldn’t have even been in position to be pranked because my hands are never on those railings.
Paco
@Stache: Well yeah, duh. They are, I am assuming, straight. Why would you expect them to be happy about being flirtatiously touched by someone they are not remotely even interested in? Unfortunately for us, most guys are not gay and we take a real risk with initiating physical flirtations with sober men we don’t know in public spaces.

Do what I do and put on the gloves, your smartest hat (with veil) and good pearls when you go downtown. Alligator bag, mink coat and diamond brooch go without saying.

In a public place like that, you don’t go around touching (caressing) strangers because you like them or are attracted to them…straight or gay you are asking for trouble…no doubt it is a different story if a pretty girl does it to a guy, double standard, sometimes. I don’t like people in my personal space no matter how pretty they are…well, I might make a exception for one or two.
Mykey
The guy at 2:04 who blows a kiss! Mmmmm
Mykey
@Aristo Pratt: @gababy2: Lol! Me too! Did he specifically target the guys who were obvious of Arab origin! No wonder the reactions were not so pleasant!
Mykey
@Annie Domzalski: Watch the reaction towards the end when a woman touches them! Most straight (single) men would be quite taken if an attractive female touched them that way!
