Like a crowded restaurant or during a press conference, Twitter is not the place to make anti-gay jokes. The NFL’s Larry Johnson learned that, and now so too did a representative of Vodafone, the giant British mobile phone provider.
“VodafoneUK is fed up of dirty homo’s and is going after beaver” was not, it turns out, a tweet sanctioned by corporate, nor the result of someone hacking the official Vodafone Twitter account, which has more than 8,000 followers. And for everyone who @VodafoneUK’d a message of “WTF?,” they received a personal response:
Too bad “Having to put up with your employees’ bigotry” isn’t a contractually approved reason to terminate your mobile phone contract.
